Hi Dominique,
That is really good to hear! I"m so glad that you're feeling better. Prednisone is an amazing medication. It works quickly which is so needed for most of us.
The fact that you feel so much better and can breath easier, etc, is a pretty clear sign that you have inflammation going on, and your adrenal glands aren't producing enough natural cortisol to take care of the inflammation. The extra boost of prednisone is helping you!
When you do go see your rheumy in October, if you've been on prednisone for a while, your blood test results could very well come back normal. That's because the prednisone is doing it's job. It's getting rid of the inflammation. So don't be surprised if your results are normal.
If the prednisone is making such a big difference for you, I would stay on it! Stick with taking that 20mg a day until you see your rheumy in October. Tell your rheumy how excellent it is for you, and keep a diary of your ups and downs during the next few weeks. I'm an advocate for prednisone. Even though I would love to be off it, I know how great I feel when I'm on it, and that's what counts!
Have a good rest tonight!
Ginny
