enlerged spleen???????????????????????

during a recent hospitalization for fluid on the heart i was found to have an enlarged spleen...anyone have any comments on that? anyone have an enlarged spleen? confused thnaks

Yeah, an enlarged spleen is not unheard of in autoimmune diseases. There are many causes for it, and I've included a link for you. With the fluid on your heart, was it an infection? That is one of the causes of an enlarged spleen. So is anemia, which is so common for us too. What is the treatment plan for you?

Hondo,

I had an enlarged spleen when first diagnosed. It was eating up platelets and red blood cells and it took more than 6 months to diagnose first lupus then mixed connective tissue disease. My spleen returned to normal when my disease(s) was brought under control. As far as I know there is no treatment for your spleen except to take it out. Treatment is for the underlying condition.
