Antiboitics (Amoxicillin)

I had some minor oral surgery done on Monday afternoon. I was prescribed Amoxicillin 3 times daily. It's making me feel sick. My face is flushed and hot, my legs itch, I'm queezy and really fatigued. I told the dentist that I was having a reaction to it so they suggested I stop taking it and they would prescribe another antibiotic. Question is, are they all going to make me feel sick because of the elevated antibodies in my blood? Has anyone else taken antibiotics successfully?

You might be allergic to that strain of antibiotics.  I'm allergic to the penicillin family and I get the same symptoms as you have mentioned here. 

 

Definitely stop taking it. Contact your gp and let them know all your symptoms.  If you see a rash anywhere try to get a picture of it and see your gp.

 

No, not all antibiotics will do this to you. It has nothing to do with our lupus. Just a medication allergy. Very common.  Your doctor can prescribe an antibiotic in a totally different family.

Hi Katie, How you doing tonight? Did you get another perscription? I tend to get pnemonia quite often so my dr. put me on azythromyacin mon.wen.fri. I've been on it for several months. Than I take something stronger if i get sick anyway. I havn't had a problem yet. I do have allergies but I have always had them. I hope you got something that works for you. You might want to keep a journal of things you are allergic to. With this disease they will be trying all kinds of meds and more than likely you will forget half of them. If you switch drs it will be good to have that info.
