Abscess in hip from prednisone shots? Chronic deep tissue abscesses

Hi-

My hip has been slowiing aching deep inside for almost a year now and by now, I can't walk and am laid up. I kept telling them I thought I had an infection in it andthey kept tellng me it was musclar and Ineeded physical therapy. The therapist got tothe poin she didn't want to do more because it hurt me so bad. Well, finally now I have long streaks of weeping sores and the skin it sore around it is very painful to the touch. Finally now maybe theywill do a CT scan.

But I wondered why I get these deep tissue abscesses. Does anyone else get them? I've had them in my neck and now this. I started having a problem after a single dose of two steroid shots from the rhuemie. I think Iwas just so immuno suppressed from the shots that any tiny amount of germs that might have been in the air or on the needle got in and started an infection. It looks like staph.  Any ideas? My lymph nodes are no good on that side since 1992 due to some unknown infection somewhere so maybe the infection has been there for a long time, longer than I think. HOw do these abscesses start?

Does it ever cause infections deep in the tissues, like where most people don't get infections because there is little or no contact with the outside, no way for the infection to get in? I guess it could have come from someone coughing on a needle or something like that... My son got MRSA from a payphone and has a tiny dented scar in his forehead from it unfortunately. It ate right through the tissue. Looked like a spider bite. I'm sorry to hear you have mrsa on top of everything else. My sister and I got exposed to TB, she was a nurse and got it in the hospital and I got it in from living in the city during a mini epidemic possibly in my doc's waiting room. These diseases are really spreading fast. I just heard a physician onthe radio a few days ago advocating the building of a secure border to protect us when the epidemics hit our neighbors (and us). For him, it was just good disease management and prevention. Its a side of things not really thought about much.
