lupus

 Want to know if any one has information on drugs use and lupus.My friend found out she has lupus 8months ago she is a heavy crack smoker wont do treatment also has infections in blood big sores on her hands has had staph a couple of times she is all bones.How long can she live like this before it kills her.She believes people are trying to posion her set her up for murder I want to help her and dont know how. Hi Jesse, Welcome to the forum. Ginny is right . . . your friend is lucky to have someone like you helping her. Deep inside, she probably knows she'll need to give up her recreational drugs to go on prescript ion meds (and she will). She has to work this out in her head and you can do is encourage her to trust the doctors. Right now it might be hard to determine what damage has been caused by her lifestyle and what is attributable to lupus. BUT . . . I would ask the doctor is this could be "drug induced lupus". There are some known prescript ion drugs that 'can' cause temporary or permanent lupus. So, if there is a possibility that her drug use is causing this, maybe there is hope that the lupus would disappear if she stopped the use of the offending drugs. I don't want to give you false hope as this is a real long-shot . . .but a legitimate question to ask the doctor. Keep us posted! Blessings!

Their phone # 1-800-993-3869   I worked with addicts who have HIV. Your friend trusts you, so I suggest you call this agency or some other non-profit agency as soon as possible. Thank you all for your prayers and support.I know there's probably not much i can do for her she has been using crack for 10 years and her mind is pretty much gone thinks the government and police are setting her up for murder.I'm scared she will be dead by the end of the year.She is already having so many symptoms of lupus lungs,kidneys,rashes,joints the list goes on and on she was in hospital for 3months about 8 months ago she did one round of chemo but then stopped because she thinks they are trying to kill her.So from what I know about lupus which isn't alot if she keeps down this road she could be gone soon?
