It has been a while since I have been on here, and, gosh, I have missed it!!!

I'm hoping someone can enlighten me --- as of late, I have been experiencing a low sex drive and an inability to climax during sex.  This is all new to me since my husband and I have always had a wonderful sex life.  (I don't usually admit that freely, but, desperate time call for desperate measures!! blush

Has anyone else experienced this??  I have recently (past 3 months or so..) had an increase in the Zoloft that I take and wonder if that could be the problem.  Also, if anyone has tried Cymbalta, I'd love to hear from your experiences.  Zoloft may not be the best choice for me right now!!

Any info. would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Tammy. I was so concerned about my sex problems that I asked my gyn about it. Not only did I have low libido, but I had pain during intercourse. The doc didn't think the prozac I was taking caused low libido. I'd taken it for so long. (I tried Cymbalta and zoloft, but prozac works best for me.) I hope the following doesn't get edited for content :-) She thought that I might have initially had pain from dryness, but then I came to expect the pain and would tighten my butt muscles which made it worse. She taught me how to relax my butt and recommended Astroglide (otc) for the dryness. Next she said to take initial penetration very slowly while my BF and I reminded me to relax my butt. All this has been a great help for me and my libido has improved. Anyway, you may want to ask your doc. I hope this helps. Love, Butterflake

Hi Tammy, I have also heard that anti-depressants can kill libido. I'm not on anti-d's but I also have problems with libido. I'm thinking that it could be my meds also. I think meds in general just wreck havoc on us but help us at the same time. I also have Sjogren's so I experience the dryness as well which makes things that much worse. Lubrication is key. I also now have to be romanced a bit more than I used to be, my hubby now gets that. I wish I had answers for you, have you spoken with your doc about this?

Years ago when I was young and healthy I took zoloft for a couple of months and my orgasm simply disappeared overnight. It became impossible for me to climax and as soon as I stopped taking it I was back to normal. I've had similar changes as of late but I attribute them to the changes in my weight, my health, and menopause. And possibly cymbalta. I'm working on all these things and may start taking estrogen again. It's too important a part of our lives to give up I hope you figure out what's the cause of your difficulties.

Thanks so much for the replys!!! It's possibly the hardest thing to bring up in conservation, but, absolutely important!! I am going to check with my doctor, but, wanted to see if I could get any personal input first to go into an appoint with some extra info.

My latest flare has also corrisponded with very low limbido and the growth of breast tissue. My Dr. checked my hormone levels after I complained that I had pain under my right nipple and it was detirmined not to be cancer. As it turns out my testosterone is low and I have high prolactin levels. I was referred to an endocrinologist. It wasn't drug related according to the tests, but they don't have any answers. I was put on Androgel to try to raise my testosterone levels.

Bryan,

Hormones make a lot of sense. I may just have to ask my doc about that next time. I find it very hard talking about this stuff to my doc. Have an easier time talking about bathroom habits for some reason over sex LOL.
