Butterflake/Lynnwood-Lupus Walk

It was sponsored by the local chapter and all the details were pretty clear from a web link on the chapter webpage. I imagine the Charlotte version is the same.

Seems like it was in the spring here - Butterflake isn't feeling very well these days, and I can't say I'm the greatest either - so we aren't walking this month!

It was a mile here I think, or maybe 1 K. Just a bunch of folks strolling along leisurely, wheelchairs, walkers, etc included.

Note that conversation about it on HW needs to be limited somewhat, as we aren't allowed to post about fund raising activities.

Hi Amy. This is an example of the email I sent to a few of my friends re the walk:

Donna worked at CDC when she was diagnosed with lupus in 2005.  She is now permanently disabled, but will be walking using her snazzy purple walker and is Captain of Team Butterflake.

 

The 1.5 mile walk will be held April 25, 2009 in Piedmont Park at 4:00 PM.  Donna would like for you & your friends to walk with Team Butterflake so please feel free to call her at *****.  Pets on leashes, baby strollers, and wheelchairs are welcome.

 

As is usual for lupies, I can't remember how much my team raised, but I do know Lynnwood raised the most. I was very heartfelt to see all those walkers for lupus. If I ever get my plantar fascitis under control, I would like to walk again next spring. Best of luck Amy. If you have the spoons, it's worth the time. Love, Butterflake
