Hi, recently I started getting nose sores, and they suck!  Someone on here said that using Ambesol would help with the pain.  The problem I'm coming across with this is it numbs my nose to the point that I can't feel if its running.  I have allergies and have to blow several times a day.  So, I've been keeping this little mirror near me at work to do "nose checks" with.  My co-workers are probably thinking I'm nuts, but I don't feel the need to gross them out with my nose sores story.  What exactly are these caused from?  Flares?  Plain  lupus?  I've been told not to use petroleum jelly as the body can't break this down, but I don't think it's a "dry" thing either.  If anyone knows of anything that can be put on these to make them go away or make them feel better I would love to hear about it.  My nose feels crusty all the time and its actually a might bit swollen and red on the outside.  The liquid that comes out of the sores is sticky-maybe like puss.  Really nasty, but I hope you understand what I'm talking about.  Anyways, I will use the Ambesol in private until there is a better solution.  Thank you!

call your doctor, there is supposed to be something you can use to help these even if it is magic mouthwash (something they give cancer patients who get mouth ulcers) rubbed on the sores. I would think anything you use orally on ulcers would help with these since they tend to have the same cause- lupus. I have only ever had 1 nasal ulcer and was miserable because I hadn't found here. You might try baby ambosol/oragel instead of adult strength. I wish I could help more but no clue what else to offer as a suggestion.

Thank you. I go to see my rhuemy tomorrow and I have half a notion to go see an ENT doctor so he can take a really good look and make sure its not my sinuses or allergies causing this. It's really weird-one day I will have one on the left side and it pretty much goes away then the right side has one. They keep moving back and forth and they are painful for well over a week. Ugh-so frustrating.

I searched and searched the web for an answer to nose sores that have come and gone for years now. Tghe last episode was the worst. So painful I couldn't touch my nose at all without whining in pain and feeling sick. I bought an ointment recommended by an Ear Nose and Throat Dr called BACITRACIN. It is similar to Neosporin, but has a different chemical makeup and it cures nasal bacterial infections. So I found it at Walmart for under $3.00 in the section with Neosporin. It has a green and white cover and says BACITRACIN ZINC. I started using this and in 3 days my nose was clearing up. It worked wonders! Neosporin did NOT work, nor saline, warm salt water, soap and water, Vaseline, baking soda and water-nothing. Just this Bacitracin. I highly recommend it if nothing else works. Grateful to have discovered this tube of wonder!!

I HAVE NOSE SORES.IS IT A DIRECT CAUSE FROM LUPUS?

My dr told me to use hydrocortisone 1% applied with a q-tip very thinly up to four times daily. Works like charm. Do not apply thick because you can taste it and it can thin out your inner nose skin.

Vasaline helps with it too.
