Do you get these? I noticed 2 yrs ago when my symptoms started I had one under my nail and it went away. For the past month or so I have noticed two on my toenails, and one now on my pinky nail. I read this is typically associated with endocardidis or lupus. I have taken pictures to bring to my rheum this Thurs.
More seems to be coming out of the wood work for me now and I hoping to get a dx soon

Hi hun, I have never even heard of it. I'm going to look it up as soon as I get done here. I was reading your symptoms and it said your muscles jerk all the time. Has that ever gone away or have you been able to find out what causes it? I know waiting is almost the hardest part. I have been DX'd before and been so happy. Then see another doctor and get UN DX"D. Oh yes it is a word. I only say this because the whole process seems to be ongoing and if you are lucky you will have two doctors that agree with the same thing. Or you will at least be treated for your symptoms.
Let us know how it goes
hugs

Splinter hemmoraghes look like little blood splinters under your nails. I looked it up and its widely associtaed with heart disease or lupus (vasculitis).
The "majority" of my symptoms started 2 yrs back. At times my ankles felt like they were going to snap, or that somethign was crushing me feet, then I started to get migratory stinging/zapping pains-like I was being electricuted...mainly they would jump around my small joints (toes, fingers, ankle) the muscle twitching and extreme joint cracking started. Note-this all started within a 2 month time period when I was undergoing a lot of stress (my dad had just been dx with end stage panreatic cancer)--so drs said "it was depressing, stress related etc". My musle twitching literally is fascilations...like when you are tired and your eye twitches, but this is ALL over my body. At its worst I was having hundreds per day along with hundreds of joint cracks per day. My joints also get very loose at times. Around this same time I started to get horizontal ridges in all my toe and fingernails, still have them.
Fast forward 6 months from when it all started and my right pointer finger started to go numb on and off, then the pancreas inflammation started...then I started to get livedo reticularous rashes in extreme heat, red hard scalp sores all over my head, hair thinning, now my pancreas is inflammed again and I have the hemmoraghes.
I am a big mess basically. When this all started I had MRIs to rule out MS, lupus labs etc..all were clear. I am going back to my rheum this wk to redo labs.
This all must be related somehow and I doubt my pancreas is the thing causing all of this.
I get other random pains too like deep eye pains, tooth pains, lower pelvic pains, knee pains--you name it, it has hurt.
I feel like I am dying of a horrible disease but its yet to be diagnosed.

The odd "electric shocks" seem to raise a red flag for me. I've had those! Mostly in my arms... It's an odd sensation.

According to a few sites I have seen, splinter hemorrhages can also be caused by trauma to the nail as well as you can get small clots although I still would bring this up to my doctor if I was you especially if you have more than one at a given time. I get them and usually have one going at any given time but they are usually small. I don't usually pay much attention unless they change a pattern.

I get splinter hemmorhages. They don't go away though. Eventually they disappear but that's because I trimmed my fingernails. They're a definite sign of vasculitis in my case. I hope you get your answers soon. You've been on this horrible journey for far too long!

I noticed 2 nails that have small splinter hemmorages so I asked the dermotologist about
them today when he was looking at the lump on my hip(which he said was scar tissue). He told me it was from trauma to the nail.I don't know cause I don't remember doing anything to it.I read vasculitis and endocardius etc...but my blood counts are good and my rheumatologist said that I don't have vasculitis per blood tests.
