about to go get my first shot of methotrexate

so nervous!!! i had a bad reaction to the methotrexate pills (severe nausea/vomiting for 10+ hours) so i'm mostly scared of that happening again. my rheumy says the nausea shouldn't be as bad with the intravenous form.

can you share your experiences with methotrexate and nausea/vomiting? how long does it typically last and what do you do to make it better? last time i felt like my insides were being ripped out...

also, since methotrexate interacts with NSAIDS... what do you take instead on a daily basis for pain?

I hope you tolerate the shots well. I have been on MTXS for over 2 years now and do very well at my current dose. We tried increasing it once and it made me very sick so I imagine if we ever had to increase it then I would end up on the shots too :(

I am on a daily NSAIDS and have been for years. My current dose of MTX is 7.5mg maybe you are on a higher dose than me and that's why you can't take the two of them together. Let us know how it goes! Take care

Hi Kim, If you are out there reading posts I would like to know how you did with the methotrexate. If is always good to hear from experiences. We never know when we may have to deal with the same situation. I hope you were able to do well with it and that it helped you out.
