Back from the doctor and my diagnosis is.............

Just got home from the doctor and the diagnosis was just what I expected Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Before my appointment I told my sister I bet her $50 I would come out with a prescription for Plaquenil for sure and either Methotrexate or Prednisone and guess what I came out with a prescription for Plaquenil, Prednisone, Fosamax, and Citri-cal with Vitamin D. The doctor told me I would be on Plaquenil till the day I die. He told me I had to take the Prednisone 5mg 2xday till I come back to see him and he would probably switch me something else probably the methotrexate.

I have to have an eye exam next week because the Plaquenil can damage my eyes and I have to go back to the see the doctor in 3 weeks.

I think my family and friends are more upset about my diagnosis than I am. I knew after seeing my lab work what I had before I went. I'll be fine.

Glad you are taking the news so well. It's wonderful that you have a dr that diagnosed you quickly and started treatment immediately. I predict you will do well!

Hi there! Sorry about your diagnosis's but I am so glad your doc isnt wasting any time on this. Starting treatment immediatly is the best thing that can happen right now! I hope the plaquenil and prednisone will help you feel better pretty quick!

Hi Robin. I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but it's a great relief to know what you have. Plaquenil takes weeks to months to kick in, but it sure helped me when it did. I started taking it 2005 and even with all my other drugs (Cellcept being my God send) I can always tell if I've forgotten my plaquenil.

BTW I agree with Lynnwood that you're taking this very well. There is usually a grieving period missing your old life so don't be alarmed when the depression hits. We at HW are always here to provide support or even if you just want to rant. Love, Butterflake
