no menstral period not typical

I dont know if its coincidence or mechanics. 1st week of april I had a tremendous bad reaction, swelling (breast swelled so bad they were lopsided!!!, itching, red striations over breast & abdomen. Benadryl didn't work had to take pred pack and benadryl. I was due to have my period one week after the pred pack. Never came. Had & still have lots of vaginal mucous/clean.

I have not missed a period since my last failed pregnancy 7 yrs ago. Still hasn't arrived and now my hands feel like wires are being pulled through them Just a fingertip touching something causes my hand to spasm. I haven't slept more than 3-4 hrs a nite on the nites I do sleep. With my hx below does anyone have an idea if this another flare, prednisone sensitivity or general age of 43 can explain this.

Dr said it could be the prednisone or stress, which yeah i'll for buy so long. My 86 yrs old father is healthy so worry of his health. Husband just got rehired to his former employer after layoff April last year. I had to resign from work 5/10/10 because too much data entry errors and my Supervisor accused my of trying to get fired for to collect unemployement or sabatoging the office-btw she had a 3 yr grudge w/me. That said I have reduced my stress.

Now my thyroid dosage is up to 100 mcg daily and severe heat intolerance is anticipated for the MD summer. 1 have a f/u visit in next two weeks. I guess i'll get the cortisone injection to tx acute hand & wrist pain. Do I insist the Dr do a FSH test if still no period. (2) pregnancy tests are negative and my breast dont hurt & my ovary is not bothering me.

I cannot go back to daily prednisone, it trully made me a hot mess nd increased my BP which I have never had a problem with. Help!!!!!!!

Hi Edabitit. I was your age when my periods stopped. My doc ran homone tests and said I was pre-menopausal. I've never had a period since.  Bout 2 years later my lupus symptoms started so I think mine was lupus related.  

I've had some alergic reactions, but nothing like you describe and I really feel for you girl. It sounds awful. I'd ask your doc to run the female hormone tests; it can't hurt. As for the heat, I have that too 5 months of the year. The slightest bit of exertion makes me so hot my hair is soaking wet from the tops of my ears down. And there are others on the forum with this too. As for the prednisone it's a drug with some nasty side effects, but if you're in a flare, often times you just have to take it. Lastly, I hope you are seeing a rheumatologist. You may have fibromyalgia which can cause intense pain throughout your body.  I have lupus and fibro.

I was healthy before lupus. I ran for 20 years then took up swimming. Prednisone increases my blood pressure and my blood glucose so I must take drugs for both. You just have to weigh the pros and cons of pred. Sometimes it's the only thing that will bring you out of a flare. We joke here that someone is always online because pred can keep you up all night. Hi there! Bless your heart, it deffinatly sounds like you are having quite a few issues! I really hope you start feeling better and that things will make a change for the better soon! When I am looking at your rx's, do you think that the Synthroid increase could possibly be what has caused the lack of period? I know when I have started or changed doses on several of my meds, it will cause my period to either get out of wack or stop for a few months.

Well so far twice this week I have spotted. Nothing really. Cant see my doc until next Wed. I'll need to get carpal quart shots on both hands. I really think my hormones are just getting too whacked out & he'll tell me to go see an endo dr.. In the meantime more labs. Yeah
