10 year old with dual ana pattern

Hi...I have a ton of questions but one that I would love some insight on is about my daughter having a dual ana pattern. She has a speckled pattern 1:1280 and a centromere pattern 1:640. Any ideas of what this could mean?
She has had alot going on...just recently in hospital diagnosed with hemicrania continua. Joint pains , days of virus type symptoms, blood in urine/stool to name a few things. We are waiting to see a rheumatologist and nephrologist...so any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

OK...is there not anyone that has an idea about a dual speckled and centromere patteren? Maybe that is why I can't find any info on it? HELP :)

Well, I've been reading every post in this forum for several years, and I can't recall any mention of a "centromere" pattern. So maybe it's very rare or something? Could they have given you incorrect information?

Please let us know what you find out so we can be better informed in the future!

Oh - I did find Centromere Pattern: Seen in PSS with CREST syndrome (scleroderma is usually the main part of CREST)

From what I have been reading the centromere pattern is pretty specific for CREST....but speckled could mean several things. Would this be more leaning toward a connective tissue disorder or maybe have lupus & CREST??? Sorry, this whole thing confuses me :(

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scleroderma & Lupus are auto-immune disorders. Most of the auto-immune disorders have overlapping symptoms, and there are no clear single tests that determine one or the other -- it's more like "choose the group of symptoms that most likely match X", where X is the diagnosis they decide is best fit.

The diagnosis is NOT the most necessary part of the problem -- controlling symptoms IS. And, like I said, the symptoms overlap....or just make sure your dr is symptom-oriented, and everything will work out. If you have a dr that insists on a firm DX *before* treatment -- get another opinion!!!

I'm very sorry to hear abour your daughter. I will pray for her and your family. It is hard to have a sick child. I agree with Lynnwood. It is hard to get a definate DX with autoimmune diseases because so many overlap. My pattern is speckled and I am still trying to get a straight answer. Take care and ttry to enjoy each day, the best I can, is how I face each day.
