Fever Rash from Lupus

I am new to this site and was diagnosed with Lupus about a year ago but have been having these weird "fever" rashes for about the past 20 years.
In the past I just didn't know it was due to the Lupus. My question is does anyone else get this? Have you found anything to make it go away faster, or keep it from happening in the first place? It comes on with the slightest fever and spreads all over my torso, stomach, back, chest and up my neck. Once it comes on it last several days. It doesn't hurt, itch or anything else, but it is a raised red rash that looks bad and is mostly just annoying. I am taking a low dose of Plaquenil, 200 mg once a day and for awhile there I thought it might be working against the fever rash but just came down with one this week. Any info or ideas would be appreciated. Still trying to understand what Lupus is and what causes it and how to manage it!!! confused

Welcome to our forum KK12. I've never had a rash like you describe, but maybe someone else will reply. I have a permanent red color on my lower neck-throat area.  For most of us, exposure to sunlight guarantees a malar "butterfly" rash on the face. Always wear sunblock when outdoors and try to stay inside between the hours of 10:00am to 4:00pm. Hopefully someone else will answer too. Love, Butterflake

Do you normally have sensitive skin? This sounds a little bit like the 'pricky heat' rash that babies get when their skin is irritated by being moist (from sweat usually) too long. I'd suggest a cooling shower when you get a fever, followed by a good covering of baby powder.

That may not help, but I don't think it could hurt either. Hope it goes away soon!

Have you had this rash checked out, and are you sure it's a fever rash? I thought I had a fever rash, and it turns out I actually have a fungus rash. The dermatologist said it's quite common in people with auto-immune diseases and the fungus actually feeds off of sweat. 50% of the population has this chemical in their sweat that attracts this fungus. It's treated with a cream, but my dr. said that I will probably get this rash every year when it starts getting hot outside. You can treat it or not treat it, but without treating it, the rash will just spread over other parts of the body. This fungus can be picked up anywhere, door knobs, pens, you name it. My rash doesn't really itch too much. Maybe your doctor can suggest a cream that will help-like hydrocortisone cream.

How did the dermatologist determine it was a fungus rash? I have a rash that is apparent on my chest, but dermatologist suggested Meniere's disease. It goes away with steroids.
