ammonia smell

Has anyone had this happen to them? I smell ammonia when no one else can smell it. It has been happening on and off for the last few months but this week it is starting to get to the point where my eyes burn and water? Any ideas?

Hi Amy, I have this happen but with me it is the smell of wires burning and my eyes burn and water at times to. I have not figured it out , but I have wondered if it has to do with the meds.

Well, I found out what we think it is. I saw my rhuemy last week and found out the results of blood work. My kidney function is going down. i had a high BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) When your BUN gets really high, some people smell an ammonia smell or taste ammonia!! Just thought I would share my interesting news!!!

well I am sorry but yet glad you found out it wasn't in your head!!LOL
I wonder what mine means I will ask my Dr. maybe they will know and I will remember this so if it happens then I will get rite to the Dr.
