Cortisone shots

Are you on a mainance medicine for your gout? My Mother had it really bad and she was put on allipurinol (sp?) and it stopped the attacks cold. If she doesn't take it or reduces the dose she really hurts.

Sorry, I had to smile at the typo. I too have grout, and it is dirty and needs to be cleaned with a toothpaste!!!

That seems very odd that cortisone would cause a Lupus flare -- but I think it just goes to show you how we can never predict what causes our over-active auto-immune systems to attack. Something about it your body apparently didn't like!

I've had minor gout, but have always been able to control it by eating less rich food for a while, drinking lots of water, and exercising to get blood moving in my feet.

Another thing is gall bladder - have you had yours out or do you still have it? Many people have problems with rich food after gall bladder removal surgery, so there are special diets -- trying one of those less-rich diets might be something to try for a few weeks to see if you can make the gout ease up some.

My brother and my father in law have trouble with gout and you will never guess what works for them? Black cherries. You can buy them dried in the canned fruit section of the super market. Just eat a handful whenever the symptoms start and within hours they start going away. It really works - the black cherrie juice does too.
