passed out why?

At work I passed out. Just before I felt dizzy, nausea, very sick, hard to breathe. I used the inhaler, but it did not work. I could not walk anymore then sat down and passed out. 911 was called. My skin was flushed pale. Later I could not get my things together to take them to the car and I wanted to leave. I was embarrassed. I was sent down the elevator to walk to the parking lot where the paramedics were. My blood pressure was tested high normally it's low or normal. My hands turned red and palms were sweating at that point. At the ER diagnosis was Fibro and stress. My Rhumy dianosis was Lupus no better and no worse. I wonder what happened. confused

It sounds like your blood pressure shot up.

That's what I think too. I was prescribed ativan for axiety.

I had a weird experience where I felt like I was going to pass out but never did. I was driving and I realized that I couldn't concentrate on where I was going and I had to force myself to keep it together and find the parking lot I needed. As I am pulling into the parking lot I see blackness edging in and realize that I was about to faint. I didn't faint and was able to find a parking place but as I am going into the building I get terribly confused and get off on the wrong floor. At this point I start to panic and cry. I take the elevator back down to the ground floor and sit on a bench and cry and sweat and panic and try to call my daughter to help me figure out where I am. I finally find the office (my ENT doctor) and since I am confused and sweating terribly they take me right in and check my vitals. Everything was normal so they let me sit with a cool wet towel on my forehead and neck and then ask a few questions.
Still not possitive what it was but was suggested that it could have been reactive hypoglycemia. I ate a high sugar breakfast with no protein and my sugar levels went too high and then plummeted suddenly. (this will usually happen 1 1/2 hour - hours after eating and that time line was perfect for my incidence. I already knew that I was asking for trouble when I ate the waffles but I was being stupidly stubborn that day. But, in my defense, I have never before had a reaction like that. And, havent since.

It could have been described as a panic attack as well but since it has not happened since and I have not had waffles since, I will assume it was the sugar. It was very scary and I sincerely hope it never happens again.

I see an endocrinologist in a couple weeks and this is one of the things I will be going over with her.

Sorry you had to experience that whole episode. scary and embaressing is only a small part, fear that it will happen again is worse.

The night before had hypoglycemia attack at night. Dr's. found my red blood cells to be elevated the next day at the ER.
