lichen sclerosus anyone?

Does anyone here have lichen sclerosus? I finally got diagnosed with that today. It is apparently seen in people with AI diseases. I got diagnosed today at the gynecologists. In the past few years,I've been told it was yeast all 3 times. I'd get these paper cut like things in the vaginal area externally and rectal areas. I've been to 3 docs in the past few years. Finally a diagnosis. I am having frequent UTI's so they are doing an ultrasound later this week. I swear, I stay at the doctor's office. They said low estrogen can also cause it. Given my age, that's probably true. I was curious if anyone had it and how they treated it.

I don't have lupus (well I still think I may have it - long story), but I do have Crohn's Disease (another lovely AI disorder). For the past several months, I have had severe vaginal itching and burning. I also had a rash. To avoid getting too graphic, I also experienced the paper- cut issue. I was treated with some sort of steroid/antifungal cream for the rash and burning. It helps a lot. In addition, the culture came back showing a vaginal bacterial infection, so I was treated with an antibiotic using a vaginal suppository. That helped too.

Maybe it is an AI disorder issue. I also have psoriasis in my scalp and in other places.

Maybe it's a Crohn's issue. I have had numerous watery bm's every day since my resection. I thought maybe it had something to do with that.

mimik, yea, they gave me steroids and mupricin to clear all that stuff up. At one time though, my primary care nurse practitioner thought it was yeast and it was NOT. It's a lot better now but if I still have some problems with getting tears around that area. I am in my 50's and finally had to go on oral hormone replacement to help with all those issues. It was a multi faceted problem and the hormones really helped. I was also getting UTI's here lately. Good luck with everything. Some of us on here with auto immune issues have a whole host of problems but we make it through each day with the support from our friends here. I know when I had colitis, the people on the crohn's forum completely saved my sanity.

Well, I'm in my early 30's. This gives me much fun to look forward to! Yeah right! Haha!
