I am having a cystoscopy done on friday and I am extremely nervous especially since it's done under general anesthesia and it will be my first time going under. Have any of you had this done before? If so what should I be prepared for as far as pain, swelling, etc.?

Be glad it's under sedation. I understand that it's rather painful awake.
I'm sure you will have some irritation afterwards, how much I can't say...

Sedation is nothing. My first sedation was for a endoscopy and then for surgery. You don't remember a thing afterwards. One minute you're awake and then you're awake again with a feeling of missing something. You'll feel very groggy afterwards. Make sure you have someone to drive you home and watch after you for a few hours until the sedative is out of your system.

Thank You I appreciate really appreciate your answer!!! They said the procedure itself is 15-30 minutes but I will be at the hospital for more than half of the day so hopefully I'll have someone to keep me entertained :)

I had to say something about the "feeling of missing something". You are so right! Never thought about it before! Lol of course with me, the something missing ends up being about 5 extra hours of sleep when I get home!
