,Hi all! I've only been on this forum for a week & yesterday I began feeling all the TELL-TALE SIGNS of a Flare coming on! I usually get severe fatigue, joint pain worse than usual, mood changes, etc. I've only been on the MAINTAINENCE DOSE of Pred (5 Mg) for a few wks now. It seems like everytime I go down to five Mg I start flaring again!
I was just at the Rheum Dr a week & 1/2 ago for check after flare & HERE WE GO AGAIN!
Does ANYONE have any ideas as far as keeping a Flare at Bay?!

Internet etiquette asks that you not use all capital letters. It is considered yelling and is very rude. Also, many of us have eye issues, usually from secondary Sjogren's, and non-standard writing is very difficult to read. Thanks so much.

The best most basic ideas for keeping a flare at bay for me are: making sure I get enough good sleep, am eating well, and am not under a lot of stress. Avoid tasks with deadlines, and plan/do only about 1/2 to 2/3's of what you think you can do. Only do activities outside the house, or stressful things like phone calls about banking issues, once every other day. If you go to the grocery store, don't extend it into a long lunch date.

If you have just come down to 5 mg prednisone from a higher amount, go back up 1-2 mg for a few days until the flare-ish feelings have passed. (If you have the dr's permission to do so -- call and ask if you don't already have it, prednisone dosages should not be played with!)

Lynnwood, thank you for your info as well as the hints on what to not/or to do. I had no idea @capitals! I've not been very fluent on Internet etiquette because I haven't been on-line until now (just got Kindle Fire for Christmas - before that had to go down in cold cold basement to use dialup computer so I tried to avoid). Thanks for your help. I'm really not trying to do anything wrong/inappropriate & I certainty don't want to lose access to this site. I'm learning so much reading all these posts.

Oh also re: prednisone - yes I do have permission from my Rheumatologist to adjust the dose slightly.
Btw I was looking at the site trying to find out @ moderators but didn't see anything. Was this site started as a nonprofit? Were you hired as a moderator? I'm just curious.
