Hi Everyone. If you have a memory you may recall that I was in hospital March 9-13 with pneuImonia. During that time I had multiple bags of antibiotics hanging at one time (caused a rash) and my body pumped with saline to keep my blood pressure up. Any WBC over 10 is very significant for me and I don't run fevers so I was discharged with my WBC at 5.8. Also my creatinine was 1.9 so I followed up with my internist as instructed. He asked me to is an infectious disease (ID) doc cause my WBC was back over 12. The ID doc admitted me back into ICU on March 23 where I again developed shaking riggors, rec'd enough saline to drop my hemoglobin and was diagnosed with septic shock. This time they kept the antibiotics to 2 at a time, but also placed me on an antiprotozoal and 300mg per day of prednisone in case this was acute lupus pulmonitis. I had a bronchial lavage in an effort to obtain a diagnosis and was discharged a week ago. As an outpatient I had an endoscopy to rule out aspiration pneumonia. Once again I'm very weak, but I sure do lots better at home. The docs dropped my prednisone to 30mg prior to my release and my rheumy has me tapering 5mg every 3 weeks.
I was a runner for 20 years and always thought my lungs would remain in great shape. That's what I get for thinking too 'cause my brain fog is off the charts. Any positive energy and/or prayers will be greatly appreciated! Love, Butterflake
