Got a call from the dr and need advice/support

Last friday I had 5 blood tests run, for certain one was to test my Gluten Intolerance, the second was an ANA and a third was my sed rate. I got a call from the nurse yesterday and he starts the call with "So, your Gluten test was negative however, the dr wants you to come in to discuss your other test results and treatment options"

Oh Im so nervous. I have a ton of symptoms but I really thought it was from Gluten Intolerance. I guess im just looking for someone to confirm my suspicions?

Im so tired all of the time. Im only 26 and I feel like im 86. I take at least 1 nap a day for about 2 hours. I wake up with a headache pretty much every morning and have another one by the afternoon. I had to go to the dentist about two months ago for a decayed tooth. The dentist was so suprised at how bad the tooth was and I had to get it pulled. It took me two weeks to heal from that ordeal and it was alot of pain but no infection and the dentist couldnt explain the pain either. I get sharp pains through out my body (some stop me in my tracks) and Im usually bloated and swollen in my hands and feet. Constant heartburn and pain in my bowels. Not mention the constant "fog" and I seem to be having memory issues. Hubby has told me several times that I we have talked about something but I truly cant remember.

My father has lupus so it wouldnt be strange, but my dr is off until Monday and she wants to see me so I am her first appt of the day.

What do you think? Welcome to our forum Sparklebug. I’m really sorry you’re having so many problems, but let me say that stress makes lupies flare so worrying about it all weekend may only make things worse. Go to the top of our lupus page and read the resources. There is lots of info which you might find helpful.

On another note, I went gluten-free a couple of months ago and I’ve found it pretty easy to follow. My blood test for Celiac Disease was also negative, but my internist said even if it helps a little it was worth trying.

Anyway, this is a long weekend. Wear lots of sunscreen if you go outside and try to find something fun to do! Love, Butterflake

She's right worrying will just make you feel worse. Yes, your symptoms do sound like lupus, but it could be something else. Just be patient and see what happens. Worrying won't change the diagnosis, what will be, will be.

Lupus doesn't mean the end of the world, just a slight tilt. It makes you slow down and appreciate life and what's important.

You have to treat you as a whole person. Start looking into fortifying yourself dietetically. Eat well, lots of fruits & veggies? I won'der if you've had a stressful life or recent occurance that could've drained you emotionally/immunologically. Stress kills and the worry that comes with it can drain your body & make you sick.

I have lupus and some of the systems are familiar. (tiredness, forgetfulness, swollen joints, sharp pains in the torso) I don't get them hardly ever now, b/c of the steroids initially but at lower doses I've learned that i need to eat better. Start looking at natural alternatives. You need to find something that'll build up your immune system. Most illnesses are a result of the same thing, it;s just a matter of which part of the body it affects.

Trying a aloe based supplement may be beneficial to restoring your body. Read up on aloe. It's the ultimate detoxifier, blood cleanser and it can work at a cellular level to detoxify the body. This will help you get back on track and in a position where your body can do what it's designed to do.

Please discuss with your doctor before doing any immunity boosting diets.

The problem with Lupus is we have too much immunity and our body attacks healthy tissue. If you raise your immunity you risk setting off an attack (flare).

The trick is to find a healthy balance with medications and diet. This is best supervised by a professional.

Immunity boosting isn't what's needed. Immunity regulation is what's necessary. It's true that the immune system is overactive, but it's attacking you and not the virus/bacteria that it should fight...it can't tell the difference.

I asked my Dr why is it that i don't I stop taking the steroids when I have a cold or get sick. I was told that it was because that wouldn't make the immune system fight only the germs causing the cold. It would still fight you. THere's a disconnect in cellular communication. THe I.S (immune sysetm) can't tell the sdifference between good/bad cells.
