I was reading some of the posts....I have to come to my local library for internet, so bare with me if it takes a while for a response from me.
I was diagnosed with MLN two years ago....stage V. According to my nephrologist my kidneys are functioning at 37%. I guess I'm just wondering what this means? I've had lupus since I was 16 years old....one of the youngest diagnosed in Iowa City at that time. I've been treated with chemo therapy most of the time. I was fortunate to have a baby.....they demanded I abort him, but I put my faith in God....he is 15 years old now and perfect. I am 43 years old and wonder if I'm going to have to go on dialysis soon? I've been on it before (when I was 16), but not since then.
I also have gout (just diagnosed 2 years ago) think I've had it for about 10 years.....its pretty severe. Just assumed it was always the AVN (avascular neucrosis in ankles and knees), but then started to get crystals in my fingers....crazy stuff. My elbows throb....weird huh.....yep, I always have the strangest side effects. I try to find humor in my life....
My son has been asking a lot of questions lateley and with internet he has been doing his own research....he thinks I've only got like 10 years to live.....I don't think so.....unless I get hit by a bus or something. I have a good attitude....usually.....but he got me thinking....maybe I should communicate with fellow lupus people and see what they have experienced.
My main concern is how long do I have before I go on dialysis? I figure it will probably be when I have another major flare up. If I stay healthy.....I may never have to startt dialysis? Am I being naive?
