Shingles or something else going on?

I've been feeling pretty rotten this week. Coughing, diariaha, and backaching. Today I was changing clothes near a mirror and saw a flat red spots scattered across my back just above my waistline. It's a little itchy and tender.

When I breath deep my ribs hurt today. Not bad, but definately uncomfortable.

Have any of you experienced shingles? What did it start out looking like for you?

If it gets any worse I'll go to the doctor.

Shingles is extremly painful. I had extreme pain before the blisters showed up. Then after about a week after the blisters showed up, they started crusting over. It was so painful, I had a hard time breathing. Many people describe it as the worst pain they have ever been in and I would have to agree!

Pain's getting worse. Tender to lean back on my back in a chair. The rash is beginning to turn into blisters. I guess I'm doctor bound tomorrow. Sigh....

I had shingles two times. The first time was awfully painful. The pain lasted for more than a month or two. The second time was better. It still was painful but not as serious as the first time. I guess because I went to the GP right away when I felt some blisters on my back. The GP had given me a full course of antibiotics. Your's do sound like shingles. The sooner you are on medication the better.

Yes, I went to the doctor. He took one look and agreed that it was shingles.
The hardest part is doing the medicine 5 times a day. The pharmacist told me no closer than 4 hours apart. Ummm...there's only 24 hours in the day...When do I sleep?
I set a timer for four hours and take the medicine when it goes off. If I'm lucky I can get in 4 doses.
My main problem is I need to sleep at least 10 hours to function the next day.

I would call the Dr and tell him/her what the pharmacy said -- then I'd do what the Dr told me!

Just my opinion, but 5 times a day to me means right when I get up, right at bedtime, and 3 times evenly spaced throughout the day.

I remember the antibiotics I took is only 3 times a day and for a full 7 days. I think mine is Famvir because I am allergic to acyclvior.

Hi Joy,

I would call the Dr and let him know what the pharmacist had to say. Sorry to hear you have them.

My Mother had them on the right side of her face, and it went into her eye. Her eye remained dilated forever, and it caused an ugly lookin scar on her eyebrow.

Anyway, I hope you begin feeling better soon.

The doctor told me 5 times a day also.

They are beginning to dry up now. No more pain, itching, or burning! :)
