I am happy to be apart of such an informative community. This is my first post, ever, and I would like to get some feedback from the community on Lupus and how it relates to chronic pain. I was first diagnosed about 1.5 years ago and was quickly consumed by a coma ( Kidneys failed, left lung collapsed, liver failure and brain swelling). After about a month of being under, I was awakened and informed that SLE was responsible for all of the sudden attacks on my organs. I had never so much as taken a Hydro before this and suddenly I am being hit with 3mg Dillaudid every hour, on the hour and it was extremely addictive.
As I learned to walk again and get all my mobility back after a 3 month stay in ICU, I was placed on home meds consisting of 125mg Prednisone, Daily, 80mg Opana ER, Daily, 30mg OxyCodone, 4x daily, 2mg xanax, 3x daily, 100mg Zoloft, once daily, cant remember the MG count, but high doses of Liscenipril. (probably wrong spelling). The pain meds and Benzos alone created a label that I did not want, but I did not care. This disease is bad enough without having to be addicted to pain meds and benzos while you are in a coma. I cannot tell you how insane it is to awaken and not know what has been happening after your last memory was someone holding you down while others forced a plastic tube down your throat into your lungs and then waking up an addict.
Anyone else had this happen to them?
