Hi Barbara,

If I had that much Prednisone I would be able to hike the entire Pacific Crest Trail! Glad you were able to get some sleep. Your body must really need it. It's beautiful here in Northern California, so I am sending you some sunshine and a big ((((((((((((((((((((hug)))))))))))))))))))))).

Thursday has been a hard day for Barbara. Her lungs are filling up with fluid and it's getting more and more difficult for her to breathe.

At around 10 they were talking about moving her to ICU so they could give her breathing treatments every 2 hours instead of the every 4 hours they've been doing.

Of course, she's resisting going as she doesn't want to be put on the ventilator. While I don't blame her, her blood gasses are showing higher & higher rates of CO2.

Barbara was sounding SO MUCH better yesterday, it breaks my heart how poorly her breathing sounded tonight. Please send your prayers & energy her way.

Prayers and energy going to you Barbara. Couldn't they draw the fluid off of her lungs to help her breathe better? Try to rest all you can my friend.

Update:

Barbara is still hanging out in her room - Drs decided it wasn't worth it to move her to ICU last night. Sounds like her breathing is still very labored - plus sores in her mouth and thrush because of the antibiotics. Not a fun time but she is holding her own. Sounds like the Drs & nurses are keeping a close eye on her.

Latest update f/Barbara:

"I'm being moved for sure to the ICU. The infectious disease dr wants a bronocscopy done. My CT shows a huge lung infection. According to the pulmonary Dr they can't just do the bronocscopy w/o me already on a vent. I'm just in to bad of shape. So the plan is to watch me and if I get much more tired they'll put the vent in, then tomorrow do the scope, and then most likely leave me on the vent for 24-48 hrs to let me rest lung wise and diaphragm wise."

Sounds like Barbara is a little better today.

They ended up NOT putting her on the ventilator, so I think that's a good sign.

Not sure what the plan is; I hope she's resting well and healing some.

Barbara is improving some as they moved her to a telemetry ward after 3 days in ICU. She had an issue in the ICU yesterday where her heart started to flutter -- apparently alarms went off & staff came running, but she didn't feel a thing.

She is still very weak, even has trouble sitting up, and her breathing is still very labored. For that reason she isn't taking nor making phone calls. I know many of you want to talk to her but she just isn't up to it quite yet. Please be patient.

Thank you Lynn for keeping everyone updated. You are a special friend to Barb and she's blessed to have you in her life. I knew she was very ill we spoke while she was on her way to the hospital and after she was admitted.She told me you would post her progress here and I've been looking daily. Barb my dear friend I really hate that you've been so ill and you know I keep you in my prayers as I know you do too. Sending you ((((((hugs))))))) and prayers may you feel better soon.
