Guess they've finally got the pneumonia identified - PCP. (Pneumocystis pneumonia). It's a fungal infection that takes a while to eradicate. Breathing treatments every 4 hours....WBC still too high for them to release Barbara. She sounds pretty good - bored with short attention span - we all know how those high doses of steroids make us BUZZ.

Barb,

Thanks for your very kind e-mail today. Feel so terrible, that I was so wrapped up in my own personal medical woes. Did not realize that you were still in the hospital since before Christmas.

I no longer post at HW CP. And I have been on a sabbatical of sorts from HW PC for a while, until I can get a better handle on my situation. I am only posting updates when needed, and if I see someone that I feel I can directly help, I will step in and post.

I have since replied to you via e-mail, and intend to get back in touch with you shortly. Been a rough week for me with appointments, Friday will be my first "free" day in a long time.

As you advised me, I will throw it back at you: Please don't give up hope. You are still here, still making it, still fighting the good fight. I care very much about what happens to you and with you.

Will be checking back in on you soon. Right now, as much as I hate to say it, but being in the hospital still, might be in your best interest under things are in better shape for you to be back home.

Barbara's WBC is still increasing - about 20,000. They think she may also have some kind of 'hospital contracted' pneumonia as well as PCP. She's not feeling too good today - they are running IV antibiotics in hopes of improving things.

Still thinking and praying for you. Hope there's been some improvement, no matter how small, just some upward sign that things are slowly getting better for you.

Many are holding you up, to get better.

Oh poor poor Barbara, she's just not getting a break. I feel very worried about her. She must be so tired dealing with all this. It going to take a while for her to get back on her feet. I really hope they start giving her some treatment that helps soon.

Hi Everyone,

I received a text from Barb saying that if her blood cultures are ok she can go home tomorrow.   A nurse will go to her home to show her how to hang her meds.  I will post again if something changes.

It sounds as though there is some improvement at last. I'm so pleased for Barbara, she will be so fed up being in hospital. Hope she's not going home too soon though, she's had a rough few weeks.

I have been out of pocket but just received an email Barbara sent on the 12th that she was home! I'll check in with her tomorrow & let y'all know what's up.

It has been ages since I've checked in here and am sad to hear about Barb. If you're reading this Barb, I'm so sorry to hear that you've been hospitalized again. You can't seem to ever get a break and I'm so sorry. I'm sure it's good to be back home again and hopefully you'll feel better.
