Initially my mother was only retaining fluid in her feet. She had a kidney biopsy, results were that she had stage 2. The nephrologist reduced her prednisone and increased her LASIK. He said her rheumatologist should treat her lupus further. That was two days ago. Now the fluid has moved further up her body, her blood pressure spiked to 201/110, and she is having difficulty breathing. So much fluid that she was 140lbs, and spiked to 179lbs in 2 weeks. She has appointments with her rheumatologist, primary care doctor, and cardiologist all next week. She was too afraid to wait, so I took her to the ER. They emitted her and said her bnp went from 8000 to 12000.(what is a bnp) the X-ray also showed fluid in her lungs. She is afraid she is going to die, I'm not sure what doctor should be doing what at this point.
After her biopsy she was on 60mg prednisone, the neph is reducing by 20 each week, Lasix is 25mg, lyrica 40 mg, procrit 20000 units a week.
Any suggestions, I'm really worried. I'm an only child and my mom is my best friend.
