Heart thumping

I've found out that lately my heart thumps after certain activities.
I was cleaning out the litter box and after I sat down I could feel my heart thumping throughout my body for about five minutes. If I climb out of my bed during the night walk around, then climb back in I feel it thumping again.

It's a very odd feeling. Do any of you experience that?

Hi Joy,

Sounds like my heart before I went on a beta-blocker to help alleviate the atrial fibrillation I was experiencing (side effect of long term Prednisone use). Prior to the hospitalizations and the medication, the heart thumping would often occur at night when I laid down to go to bed. It was worse with exercise, especially hiking or riding a stationary bike. My pulse would go as high as 180 beats per minute. I would let your doc know and get checked out. Ultimately, I waited too long and should have been something years before I ended up in the hospital.

I've got a pulse oxy meter with pulse monitor built in I'm going to pull out and see what is going on during those episodes.

It's such a scary feeling laying there literally feeling your heartbeat throughout your body.

My mom says it's because I don't do strenious things anymore. If I do anything that requires a lot of stamina I feel like I might collapse.
