Working

My boss is being an ***hat and it's getting so difficult to live up to her unworldly expectations and micromanaging when I'm experiencing brain fog, exhaustion and pain.

It really has me considering getting a less stressful part time job or maybe working from home and starting a home based business.

It's hard to let go of a career I've been in my entire working life. It's also scary, our Brady bunch still has three kids at home to support. But it's a very stressful industry and has me flaring all the time.

I'm wondering, what adjustments have you made to stay working? If you had to stop, how did you cope? Does anyone have any suggestions on the topic?

Oh and in case anyone wonders I have had countless conversations with my boss. She will improve for a week or two and then she is right back at it. She isn't going to change unfortunately.

I stopped working after my boss decided I couldn't do the job anymore. He noticed my performance was getting poorer because of fog and pain.
I was debating stopping about that time and felt it was a sign for me.
Make sure you have long term disability to keep the money flowing.

I'm now developing signs of possible RA. :-(

I am so sorry for the work predicament. You might want to take a look at www.guru.com. They're the largest freelance site in the world and post ALL kinds of jobs. Almost all of them are work from home.

If you find a category/job that interests you, please don't get discouraged about having to write a cover letter, bid on jobs, list other info, etc. It takes a bit of getting used to in the bidding department.

There are different levels of membership, but the basic membership won't let you attach your resume or anything else to a proposal, and it doesn't give you the full scope of all available projects. I think the next level, which I think is the "normal one" costs like $150 per year, but you'll have SO many projects that are emailed to you, matching your profile, it'll be hard to keep up! :) You can bid on plenty of jobs and follow-up with employers.

Sorry to hear about your boss. I started working full time even though I was already unwell, but because it was my first job, I didn't know better. I assumed it would be different to study where you constantly had assignments and tests hanging over you. However, I got to the stage where I realised that it was too much - I could "turn up" to work but not really be there and I literally could not do anything else for myself. I was incredibly nervous having to talk to my boss, but by then I had reach wits end - it was reduced hours of me gone. Fortunately he was very understanding about it and it hasn't been a problem. So now I work two full days and 3 half days. I've had a rough week or so and he's still been good but I certainly don't want to push it just in case!

I admire your persistence in trying to educate your boss. If it stresses you out, you could always look for another job. However, I'm aware that these are hard to come by these days and you never know what the next one will be like. Despite her seemingly frustrating reversals, I guess it's a good sign that the conversations are still having an "effect" on her/she is still being partially receptive to it.
