Fluorescent Lights - how close until they bother you?

My workplace changed the light bulbs in our office a few days ago and I asked them to leave the lights directly above me, alone. Which they did. No bulbs above me. However the last couple days, by the end of the day, I've felt like I was coming down with the flu- but after a couple hours at home, I'm feeling better. I don't know if it's allergies or Lupus? Do the lights that are not directly above bother you?

Any exposure to UV rays for me makes me feel sick.

You probably need to wear sunscreen or sun protective clothing.

I have had problems with fluorescent lights, but it's not consistent. There have been times at work when I literally feel ill after being under them all day long. I generally feel fatigued and achy. And sometimes I even get that beautiful cheeky red flush.

I can't be underneath them for too long! And I definitely cannot look at them for longer a second if I don't want to get sick and get a migraine. Being out under the clouds or the sun gets me tired and sleepy, fatigue sets in quick, lupus arthritis comes out, but if I am well protected (like I should be.. aha) with sunblock and a hat, then I am pretty good with the outcome.
