I HAVE A LOT OF LUPUS SYMPTOMS BUT MY ANA WAS NEGATIVE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE A NEGATIVE ANA TEST AND STILL HAVE LUPUS. PLEASE HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND. MY SYMPTOMS ARE BUTTERFLY RASH, PHOTO SENSITIVITY, CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY, LIVEDO RETICULARIS RASH, EXTREME FATIGUE, IRRITABILITY AND MY SKIN IS SO HOT BUT NOT FEVER. PLEASE HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND THIS. I WENT TO AN ALLERGIST, TO AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST AND I AM WAITING FOR THE RHEUMATOLOGIST.

Have you seen the list of the 11 indicators for lupus? You only need to meet 4 of the 11.
Yes, you can have lupus without a positive ANA. The rheumatologist will be able to tell if it's lupus.

I hope you will get the answers you need with the rheumy. Try not to fret too much while waiting for answer. We're here for a shoulder to lean on. (((Hugs)))))

Check out www.lupus.org for the list of 11 symptoms.

(I had typed the same as Joy did 45 minutes ago, but lost it and hadn't gotten back here yet! Go, Joy! Go, team!)

To me, your symptoms don't sound like a Lupus dx is in order, but checking in with a rheumotologist is a good idea.
