Hello,
So I'm currently 19 weeks pregnant with my second baby... before I go more into that here's some of my lupus history...
I was dx with lupus in 2008, had my first major flare in 2009, remission about 1 year later. First pregnancy (2013) went relatively well, experienced low white blood count throughout my pregnancy (but that was my normal) and had some protein in my urine during the first few weeks of pregnancy. I was put on prednsione during that pregnancy to help with the low white blood count (tapered it down throughout the pregnancy and was off about 5 months post partum). I had an emergency c-section due to a placental infection, the baby was in distress. My son was born HUGE (9.5lbs) at 38 weeks and is happy and healthy. After that pregnancy I was given the green light to have more babies if i wanted.
So now i'm in my second pregnancy and it's a completely different story. I didn't know I was pregnant, i started noticing symptoms of my flare starting (sore and achy joints and muscles, chest pain (lungs and heart get affected during a flare for me). They were relatively mild so I didn't seek medical attention until I realized that I was pregnant. I was put on 20mg of prednsione, then referred to my pregnancy specialist who upped me to 30mg. It was then noticed that I had large amounts of protein in my urine, but my kidney function is normal and so is my blood pressure. I was referred to a nephrologist (sp?) who then increased my prednsione to 50mg and started me on something called tacrolomus (sp?). Currently I'm on 5mg x2 a day of that new medication. Previously I was told that i may have to decide to terminate my pregnancy if the protein in my urine did not start to decrease. Since then however it has and i've been told that I'm "winning"...
My question is has anyone gone through a simialar experience and if so have you either had more children afterwards or have you been advised it's best not to have anymore kids.
Currently my meds are:
prednisone: 50mg
imuran:150mg
Plaqunil: 400mg
tacrolomus: 5mg x2 a day
Calcium
vitmain d
baby asprin
prenatal with high folic acid
Thanks!
