Cell cept and confusion and lightheadedness and pain in sinuses

Okay I started cellcept maybe 2.5 months ago. It has helped my joint and muscle pain dramatically. But with the mess I have had the last few months and needing to take prednisone I am having a hard time figuring out if cellcept is causing my current symptoms as side effects from the drug. I have never had such mind confusion like this. I can't remember words, or what day it is, etc. My brain is so foggy. I have also been extra tired, light headed at times, and have had pain in my sinuses. I know brain fog is an issue with lupus, but I am wondering if anyone has noticed an increase in those symptoms specifically the brain confusion while on cellcept? I am only on 1000 mg so far and was supposed to work my way up to 2000.

You should talk with your rheumy about this, it may be that your Lupus is flaring despite the Cellcept. Cellcept doesn't work for everyone, and they need to check your blood inflammation markers to see if something is still flaring. Maybe you would get better results with Imuran or MTX - it's a mystery which of these 3 will work for which Lupus patient.

Alternatively, "problems with vision, speech, balance, or memory" are listed among the potential side effects of Cellcept, which require a Dr's attention. So maybe you are having a bad reaction.

I have to say that I had pretty much lost my mind to serious cognitive dysfunction, measurable IQ decline (ie, more than just fog) and my 18 months on Cellcept gave me back my brain and put my Lupus into a "quiet" phase. (Rheumies generally don't use the word "remission".) Pretty much the opposite to what you are experiencing.

Please chat with your Dr, it really doesn't sound like this is the medication for you. Hope you feel better soon.
