Fluctuating Antibodies

Do your antibodies fluctuate? I read that it is normal for the levels to fluctuate but is it normal to have them go from moderate positive to weak positive to negative (See RNP) or weak positive to negative to moderate positive (histone)? For reference, here are my test results and dates with the ranges that I am curious about:

Histone - 12/14 1.5; 2/15 0.9; 8/15 2.1 (Waiting for lab results from this week)

0.9 Units or less ............ Negative
1.0 - 1.5 Units .............. Weak Positive
1.6 - 2.5 Units .............. Moderate Positive

RNP - 12/14 62; 2/15 30; 8/15 30; 2/16 18
Negative <20
Weak Positive 20 - 39
Moderate Positive 40 - 80
Strong Positive >80

Smith - 12/14 36; 2/15 33; 8/15 34; 2/16 29
Negative <20
Weak Positive 20 - 39
Moderate Positive 40 - 80
Strong Positive >80

C3 and C4 are still low but are a bit higher from August, currently lupus is "quiet".

Autoantibody tests do but are not necessarily an indication of disease activity which is why most docs don't test after getting a diagnosis. They do go up and down. How you feel is more of an indicator of what's going on.

RNP is tested to see if you have an overlap syndrome, MCTD. Once it is positive it is usually not tested again. No reason. Often other tests are ordered to confirm a diagnosis....like a biopsy or some other diagnostic test.

Thanks for the response, I guess in the back of my mind I was hoping somebody would say, "no, they don't fluctuate, looks like it wasn't lupus after all". I know, I know, wishful thinking and perhaps a bit of denial!
