Liver enzymes through the roof

I just got a report from my rheumatologist that my ALP, AST, and another enzyme was outrageously high. I'm suppose to return on the 7th of March for further testing unless I start having trouble.

Frankly, I'm scared out of my mind. smhair

I've been reading everything about the possible causes and it's freaking me out.
I know "doctor Google" can do that and I need to avoid it but I was curious. nono

Anyone have their liver enzymes shoot up like this?

Going through that now. Lupus has been attacking my liver on and off the past 2 years. Treatment is to treat lupus and get it under control if that is the cause. You should see a hepatologist and see what tests are needed to confirm what is causing elevated numbers. Coordinate with your rheumy and PCP. My numbers went sky high in the summer of 2014 and then subsided to normal levels but came up a little a few months ago only to go back down again. I am on a periodic schedule for labs and told not to ignore any signs of hepatitis.

FYI, I never felt badly and it was only from scheduled labs that I even knew something was wrong.

I'm on some meds that can cause this, but this happened in less than two months time frame and I've been on these meds for a year or more.

It's either lupus or the meds causing this. I've got to go back for further lab work in 2 weeks.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this scare, I know all to well how receiving this news feels and the panic it brings over you. Lupus in general can cause liver enzymes to soar and then add the medications used to treat our disease and unfortunately it's hit or miss on knowing if they will elevate liver enzymes or not sometimes. My liver and GI system was the first and most consistent thing lupus decide to attack with me. My Rheumy has been phenomenal in juggling medications and working with my other specialists to keep me out of danger.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, I pray you too have a phenomenal Rheumy who will get this under control and if needed will get you set up with the proper specialist. Please know there is hope to control this.

Thanks, Melissa. I'm trying not to fret and dwell on this, but it's hard not to.
I do have an awsome rheumatologist. He's on the lupus charter site as a supporter. He found out I also have sero-negative psoriactic arthritis too.

I have recently started to see elevated liver enzymes myself. I've been on my statin for almost a year.

I'm interested to hear what you find out.

I've been on several meds that can affect my liver. I'm hoping when I return on the 7th everything is good.
