I didn't realize until today, that I was going to hit my 25,000th post at HW. Can't hardly believe that, but have been here since October of 2008.
My mind thought all over the place, whom should I dedicate it to? I spend most of my time in the Prostate Cancer group, use to be in Chronic Pain, have posted here to Barb, and have visited other groups at HW.
It was no contest in the end. I hereby dedicate this post to my dear and recently departed friend, Barbara Lee.
She was the best of the best. I tried hard to help her cope and she tried hard to help me in return. I never got to meet her in person, if you did, you are fortunate in deed.
We had a deal going. If I didn't give up, she wouldn't give up. I honestly believe this deal helped each of us to continue to fight our own medical fights.
Barb was one tough cookie. What I have suffered, is pale compared to how she suffered. Yet she maintained her pride and spirit, and still found time to help others in her pathway. Her pain was immense at times. For each problem she faced, a new one would pop up to make things worse and tougher for her to deal with.
I miss her. Still hard for me to accept that she will never post me again, or e-mail me, as she often did. And I can no longer tell her to not to give up.
I am certain she is in a better place. With a healed body, without pains or suffering. Perhaps one day, I will be where she is, and I can finally meet her.
Barb, you were a great friend, a great person, and I am proud that I knew you. And don't worry, in respect to our pact, I will not give up either. May you rest in eternal peace.
Your friend,
David in SC
