Lupus symptoms?

Hi!
I hope everyone is keeping cool in the heat! I am not diagnosed, in a wait and see situation. I'm keeping track of my symptoms for my doctor and had 2new ones. My left hand is swollen and the fingertips are sore, red, throbbing pain and looks like a white soft bump under the tip. Is this a symptom of lupus?

Also, after sometime at the beach, I noticed about 20 purplish marks on my arms. They are flat, never had this before.

Please let me know if you've had this before or heard of it. I realize it could be from others things as well, just thought I'd check on it.

It is hard to say what might be a symptom of Lupus, since Lupus presents very differently from person to person. Since Lupus is basically an over-active immune system, it can randomly decide to attack anywhere in our bodies to make things swollen, inflamed, or otherwise odd.

The best thing to due is to note EVERYTHING that you are experiencing that is the slightest bit different than your 'normal'. That way you will be sure that all the information that the Dr can use to help with the diagnosis is available to him/her. Much better to give them too much information than too little!

97 percent of those with lupus will have a positive ANA test. (http://www.lupus.org/answers/entry/lupus-tests)

But having a positive ANA occurs with a number of other diseases BESIDES Lupus. It is NOT definitive. Lupus is diagnosed by having 4 of 11 symptoms, and only one of those is blood work.

Oh, and to clarify -- lots of things can be symptoms of Lupus, but still not be "diagnosing symptoms". That is, Lupus can cause things that are not on the list of Lupus symptoms. The list really just includes the "biggies" that are used in the diagnosis process.

Thank you! Yes my Ana is positive 1:160, homogeneous. No antibodies elevated that were tested, ear was high at 38. No diagnosis except fibro, so I'm making a list of symptoms for my doctor.

Your hands sound like mine in the mornings.
Except I have knots at my finger joints.
That's my arthritis rearing it's ugly head at me.
