Hi all - I am posting here for a friend of mine. Has anyone ever had hair loss in their armpits and such from lupus? She's not sure if it could be medicine related or not although she hasn't made any recent changes lately. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Some medications take a while to build up in your system, so you may have to take them a few months before noticing side-effects like hair loss. (Thus "recent changes" might not be the only way to get medication side-effects.)

Some people find Lupus itself causes hair loss.

I had some hair thinning (on my head) from the Cellcept I was taking for Lupus. I didn't notice any differences in underarm hair from either Lupus or Cellcept -- although honestly, if underarm and public hair thinned I might not have noticed it.

Maybe we could help you out more if you could post her medication list?

What is your friend's current list of Lupus medicines? I did not have hair loss from Cytoxan or Plaquinel. I hope that when I start Imuran I do not have any hair loss from that. Keep in mind that Lupus can cause hair loss as well.

Imuran did NOT give me any hair loss, so hope you have the same result, NewToLupus. Cellcept did thin my head hair a bit.
