Hi jane124,
As a lupus patient, I see that stress, unhealthy lifestyle and harmful diet will trigger lupus flares. I used to be exhausted to cope with the disease. But now, I accept it as a part of my life. I think following tips may help you to reduce flares
- Limit stress. You can do anything you like to avoid stress, including watching exciting films, reading interesting books, listening to music, or hanging out with your friends. Also, remember to reduce your work if you're tired.
- Get enough sleep. Lack of sleep can trigger flares, so you need to sleep at least 8-9 hours each night.
- Find support. If you're under pressure, you should find a trusted person to share your issues.
- Eat healthy foods. Try to avoid processed or fried foods. Instead, eat more salmon, broccoli, tuna, flaxseed and fruits.
- Do exercise. Exercise may be difficult for you on the first day. But you can try some gentle exercises like yoga, Tai Chi or walking.
Lupus flares often come and go many times, so you should have healthy lifestyle habits and diet to reduce flares. Also, you may take supplements to boost your health.
