I have been referred to a rheumatologist and have appt. in august.
The recent blood work i had done caused the referral. I'm just wondering how likely it is that i have lupus based on these results and what can i expect at this appointment

ana - abnormal
ana pattern - abnormal - homogeneous
ana titer - 1:160
DNA Antibody Double Strand - 249 - high
ENA RNP Antibody - 26 - high
Smith (Sm) Antibody - 25 - high

Only a rheumatologist can diagnose Lupus, and it's diagnosed by having at least 4 of 11 diagnosing symptoms present, not by blood work alone. Read the first topic, Lupus 101, to see this symptoms.

Your blood work shows that MAYBE something auto-immune, like Lupus, is going on, thus it's prudent to have a rheumatologist check into things. Most of us, even reading the list, are uncertain whether our symptoms actually match or not -- that's the Drs job!

Agreed.

That is suspicious for lupus, but it could also be MCTD or another type of autoimmune connective tissue disease. Unfortunately you'll have to wait till the rheumatologist appointment to figure it all out. They'll probably want more blood tests done and will also go over your symptoms in detail. They'll probably examine your joints and skin and possibly order tests for your kidneys and maybe other organs as well.

All of that is really needed to figure out what's really going on.
