Hi-my name is Mary. I am new here and have a few questions for y'all. I recently had a physical exam and had some abnormal blood tests...in a nutshell my ana was positive..homogeneous.. with a titer of 1:80. Right now I am waiting for a call from a rheumatologist. I'm scared I have Lupus. I can't stand the waiting.its like watching the grass grow. I have a lot of symptoms, but I have also been reading a lot about the link between herpes simplex and lupus. I have herpes simplex since I was a teenager, along with mono and shingles. I get outbreaks on my lips that are really bad. Does anyone have any experience with these viruses? thanks. oh, also wanted to mention that my crp level is 25.4...is that high?

Your ANA is borderline positive as mine is. Without knowing what else is going on, it is hard to call. Regardless, a rheumatologist is definitely a step in the right direction. A lupus dx is never easy and I hope that is not your dx. No one wants this.

Yep, 1:80 is borderline positive. Many times 1:80 ends up being nothing at all. Sometimes it can come from an infection, too. The CRP is elevated, and that's a little concern. Definitely something that needs investigating, but a rheumatologist will help figure out if it's anything worth worrying about.
