Hi Everyone,

   I thought I'd start a new topic on the crazy things we do from brain fog. We have had alot of treads in the past about this and it can be fun to hear some stories and lighten the load a bit with a few laughs.

   The ole "brain fog" has been thick with me lately. Yesterday I was going to get something out of my car. I was standing at the back door of my house with my car keys pushing the button that unlocks the car trying to open my back door!! I did this for a few seconds before I realized what I was doing. Thank goodness my family didn't see me...they were here for a cook out and would have thought I was crazy, literally..lol.

   Anyway, just thought I'd share my latest fog story to get the tread going. I'm sure we will hear some great stories. Let's hear them folks!

LOL hon, what a great idea!!  I cud almost picture you doing that!!! tongue

Well, mine was as recent as yesterday too, 2 things, 1) made a quick trip to town to get milk and coffee cream, which I had already done the day before eyes   2) Put together a lovely pot roast for supper, and didnt turn it on sad   we ended up with grilled cheese and soup tongue

This is a great topic,lol.

This morning when I went to feed my cats, I had the cup of food in my hand and I walked into the family room to feed them, their dishes are in the dining room,lol. My husband laughed at me and said "Um, Hun, wrong way, back that way". I felt pretty stupid, but hey thats they way it goes. tongue

  Here are things I say to myself or others on a regular basis.

    What was I just saying?

     I had an appointment when?

     Where am I going?  (while in car)

     Where's my keys?

     Where's my sunglasses?

     Where the heck did I park the car.

     I know I'm supposed to be somewhere ....

     I can't remember why I called...so... how are you?

   and the best one so far.................

   What do you mean we don't have school ? I dropped the kids off 10 minutes ago?  (luckily we only live a block from school and the kids walked home)

Diane, your roast story reminded me of a recent one. Last week I had put a wonderful roast in the crockpot with lots of good veggies. I plugged it in, but didn't turn it on, so needless to say when my husband discovered it many hours later, it was too late to save. Also, I got an e-mail from my dad this morning asking if I had forgotten an important event on March 9. It suddenly clicked that his birthday had come and gone and it didn't at all register with me. I don't know when I would have remembered if he hadn't e-mailed me. We have an ongoing joke in our house now that whenever I do something whacky, we just say "boy, it's foggy in here".

LOL the 2 really stupid things I did recently were...... My brother dropped me off the other day. I went to unlock the door and realized my keys were in the house. I called my nephew to bring over a spare I had in keep in emergencies. He just had his car towed into the shop. So he had to borrow a car to come over. So he ran over let his aunt carol in and left. Icame in the house and the first thing I did was had to let the dog out. So I walked to the back door and realized it wasn't even locked! It never occured me to to check it. I will never tell my nephew about that one LOL.

and than my really realy stupid stunt. I sat for 15 mins holding my dentures in place. No matter what I did I couldn't get them to stay in. You'd think I would have figured it out when that cool mintie taste kept burning the roof of my mouth. I had tried to glue my dentures in the toothpaste!

I'm soooooooo glad it wasn't preperation H!

Well my hubby got a nice surprise the other day when he opened the fridge and saw a nice box of feminine products. I just made a joke about keeping them fresh.

I took out my dishes of my dishwasher one time and then for some silly reason loaded them all back in again to rewash. I didn't notice that one either until my hubby pointed it out.

Also, I always forget what I am talking about mid conversation and feel like an idiot. I try to concentrate on it so I don't forget and end up not listening to what the other person said because I'm focused on what I need to say. It's sad and I really don't mean to do it. Sometimes I will just give up and say that I will get back to them later.

AND how many of your spouse's still ask you "Remind me to..." when they know darn well that's a lost cause LOLOL

Hi Des, I know that one about forgetting a conversation. I really feel like a lunatic with somone listening on my every word and than I start to fumble it . That one is hard. I have to explain to people that don't know that I really can't help it. Also do you get a lot of times when people tell you "remember us talking about so and so the other day?". It doesn't matter what they say or how much they try to get me to remember I just can't. I would swear they had me confused with somone else. I really worry there is a connection between this and alzheimers. I'm 49 with a memory of a 90 year old some days. :(.

lol that sounds like something i would do, but i find its my b/f that needs more reminding about stuff than i do, but i do find myself putting ramdon ojects in usall places e.g like putting my clean socks in the tortoise aquarium (and no i have no idea why) its even got so bad once that wasn't conserntrateing so bad that i put odd shoes (friends had a great laugh with that one). I would recommend, more freash fish for a good dose of Omega 3 and try and keep your mind active more, with something like cross word puzzles or and other kind of puzzel you would like, or something like cross stitch or knitting (anything you can manage)

Yes, and I feel horrible looking back on that now since I told people off for saying something "I didn't say" lol... they probably think I'm a piece of work.  If someone tells me something at work, I tell them to "recap that in an email" because I know I won't remember.  I don't even have to ask them anymore.

db, I am rolling on the floor....I can see that. My wife will ask me all the time. The problem is where? it's me, it's me....Now, this morning I check the voice mail....got the 2 call's told my wife and the 1/2 hr later I get who "called this morning?" Answer "DUH" All I could remeber is that our son had call could think of who the other person was...

Now here is another one...Get into the elevater and wonding why it was taken so long to mover....DUH....you have to push the button, you think!!!

You guys are hilarious! Just the other day I had to call my Dermat. to ask them where they were located. The receptionist who knows me by name says, "Haven't you been here numerous times?" I just laughed and said, "yes, but I forgot". I didn't explain even after I finally showed up for my appt. I just giggled inside.

And what do you know, a week later I forgot how to get to my hair dresser's, so I had to call them and ask for directions. Once again, I didn't explain. I'm sure everyone just thinks I'm a dingy blond!! Oh well. It could be worse!!! I think it's great to laugh about it! Some of you had me rolling! The car keys to open the house door. You had me laughing out loud! Love you guys.

You guys are great, you crack me up!!! It seems lately I cannot say the word I am looking for... I call the broom a mop and trying to tell my 11 yr old daughter to mop up the crumbs instead of sweep up, I didn't just do it once ..... but several times.....lol

We went to the movies Friday night and after getting our snacks at the snack bar the guy at the counter told me to have a good time watching the movie.  I told him, "You, too".  Then I realized what I had said.  Told him I was sorry because he wasn't seeing a movie.  I felt like a complete idiot especially when I told a complete stranger in another line later what had happened and she said "That was a little dingy"

Then the next day my son came over to visit.  My husband asked me for a glass of water and some ibuprofen.  I went and got it only I handed it to my son instead, who just looked at me and pointed to his dad.

Oh, those airhead moments!!!!  Good for a laugh!

Then it isn't just me!!  I notice that I forget words, like when I am trying to have an intelligent convers, and a simple word like negotiate, or complimentary, or elusive are impossible for me to recall, and it is soooooooooo frustrating!!!  I feel so foolish at times because I have to think hard to find that word, knowing it will be too late to use it anyway, or. do you find sometimes that an easy solution to an everyday problem is hard to find sometimes, even though you KNOW you should know, I find that particularly scary  confused    I usually laugh it off saying that I suffer from "information overload" but I'm not laughing inside.

Okay, how about when you forget who you are taking too. I have told my boss that "I LOVE YOU" many time when hanging up. I was thinking it was my wife. At least he has never said it back...YET!

Oh, has anyone forget who they are? Sometime I have to really stop and think...

LOL..You all have me laughing so much! These are some great stories!

  I work part-time in a docs office..this afternoon a patient came out and needed an appt set up to come back in 4 months. I started to make the appt and the lady said "what is your name?", I said Angelia (that is my first name),...she said hmmm....You look alot like Mark Cain's(my son) mom, Babs....I looked at her, smiled and said, I am Marks mom, they call me Angelia here...she said I'm jackie, Heathers(my son's wife) grandmother. I said OMG, I'm sorry! .....I know this woman, not well but I do know her!... I was sitting there looking at her name in front of me and her face and couldn't put them together until she told me who she was....I was so embarrassed! We both had a good laugh about this, but I bet she thinks I'm nuts!

  Thats my latest "brain fart"...lol.  Keep the stories coming!

Well the best I have ever done was 2wks after the birth of my youngest child. I took her in for check up & when I went to register her they asked me her name & I totally went blank. All I could do was cry. After a good 30 minutes it finally came back to me. That had to be the most embarrasing moment of my life.

I ask the same questions as BITZI! I bought ''HELLO,my name is..'' tags for my kids!
This wasn't from the lupus,but,when I was in labor with our first,I was so confused each time someone came in to'' check me'',I finally wipped back the sheet and said,'' I suppose you want to look too''....the man standing there looked at me funny and said', ''sorry,I'm just emptying the garbage,but thanks anyways!'' I could've died!!LOL!
But do you ever say something,thinking you just thought it? I had a BEAUTIFUL man do my windows and doors,and as he was finishing the door(bending over) I said''now that's sexy!'' I actually meant the iron door,but my 17yr old looked at me ,grinned,and said ''yup'',we were both very embarrassed when he turned around!
And Frank,perhaps you'll get a raise out of this LOL!!

LOL, You guys are a hoot! It's great to have a few laughs with all the things we go through!

  I usually use the powered coffee mate in my coffee, but I'm out right now, so I got some milk out of the fridge. When I was going to put it back, I opened the microwave on the other side of the kitchen and tried to put it in there..... eyes   Thank goodness it was too tall to fit...lol.

This morning I went to fill up the coffee pot with the water from the dispenser on the fridge and I actually set it to ice (it was already set to water). I got a few ice cubes into the coffee pot before I realized what I did. I'm so glad that my hubby wasn't up to see me do that... he sees a lot of my crazy things but if he saw it all I'm sure he'd think twice about me lol J/K.

went for dinner last night ,came out of the washroom,and found myself thinking,''hmm,he's cute'',as this man smiled at me ,I got all all giddy,thinking he was checking me out-sure was,it was my husband wondering just what table I was heading too!
