Um. The guy who wrote this paper is a PhD, not an MD. He does work in nutrition, not in medicine.
Additionally, this is a summary paper -- that is, it contains single-paragraph references to a number of other papers. There is only one reference to any studies regarding lupus, and like Barbara Lee said, it is one very small study that focuses on children.
The actual paper being referenced is "T-activin in multimodal treatment of systemic lupus erytheniatosus in children", by Katasheva VI, Tarasova LR, Zairat'iants OV, Belokrinitskii DV,
published in Pefiaida. 1991, (3): 47.
The main author and the publication do not seem to be referenced anywhere. So while this may be something that develops in the future, I seriously doubt any rheumotologist today will be recommending any treatments involving thymus extract.
Being a PHD does not mean you have less input, insight and experience. The only diff is one can presribr meds and one cannot.
Are you a non believer in ND's and Homeopathy or Phd's?
Phd's are the Dr's who are in researc and discover the meds for illness
Agreed, this paper is not the end all, but this is only one pc of info I found.
I am sure a MD would either not know about Thymus or acknowledge it, but hey these are the same ppl who have been calling Lupus, Lyme and CFS patients crazy.
I think there is something to be said about this thymus extract. I will find more info and speak with my MD's and see what else I can find out so I can share it will all of you.
Just keep in mind, Md's used to put ppl with Syphlis in mental hosp's b/c they did not know what Syphlis was and just called all sufferers crazy
Will keep u posted ladies and gents
