First I want to thank everyone for the updates on Barb.

Barb, this is the first time I posted to this link. I have been keeping up on reading it and hearing how you are doing. Somtimes it's hard to find the words to tell some one how much you care about them. My brain has been kind of foggy so my words just don't come out right. I know your tired. I know you're hurting and I know you don't want to do this anymore. What I don't know is any magic words I can say to fix it. This is so much for one person to have to bare. Every day is a new day and I just pray that you have some good days along the way. I hope you are getting somthing to help your back and you can get some rest. I know about the needle thing. They usually have to have 3 people come in and try to find a new vein on me when they change my site. It can hurt like the dickens if they miss and than look like a motorcycle wreck afterwards from all the bruising.

Hi Everyone,

   Barb just called and said she is more stable and they are moving her off the Cardio ward. She will be moved upstairs to the medical ward in the next couple of hours and will call me to with the new phone number incase anyone wants to call her later.

  She's still not sure when she will be going home. They have to get the Coumidin regulated before releasing her. She is ready to get home so she can rest better.

   Just wanted to give the latest update. Take care all.

   Barb, try to rest as much as you can. I know you don't get much rest in a hospital though...(((Hugs))). Your in my thoughts and prayers. Love you, friend!

  I was just about to post the same thing...lol. Barb just called me too! Barb is hoping to go home tomorrow.

  Barb, I hope you can rest better on the med ward and get out of there tomorrow. Your in my thoughts and prayers sweetie!

I talked with Barbara for a few minutes this afternoon -- the staff was getting ready to help her take a shower! Yay! If you've gotta' be sick it's at least a comfort to be clean. As mentioned previously, they want to get the Coumidin regulated (for 2 cm blood clot in abdomen) before they send her home. She is hoping for Wednesday. The pleurisy seems to be clearing, at least it doesn't hurt as much. Just today they found a cracked vertebra; they think this is probably the source of a lot of her back pain. She hasn't been able to get much sleep on the cardio ward -- it seems she had an elderly roommate who was quite verbal with her discomfort and dissatisfaction. Today she's been moved to a regular floor and is hoping she can get more rest. However, with the blood thinners and the bone cancer, her blood isn't strong enough to actually give her much energy, so she won't be feeling very "rested" until the clot has dissolved. They are still watching the clot closely, and if she has *any* swelling or symptoms below the waist she is to report in immediately and they might have to surgically remove the clot. The good news is: 1) they happened to extend the heart scan low enough to discover this clot!!! and 2) Nikita found her clothes! {For those of you who aren't up-to-date on the clothes saga -- they have been misplaced since their move a couple of weeks ago...not fun.} If you call her, be ready to share something about yourself! Barb is still more interested in hearing about others than she is about her own condition -- something I totally understand. Barbara said she is thinking of us all and praying for us. I think I will try to call tomorrow I took a nap and I am not sure how late incoming calls are allowed at her hospital but my preferred hospital cuts off incoming calls at 8pm. Sad I know but they figure you need your rest not calls. Heck the incoming calls don't start back up until noon to give the doctors rounds without interruptions. If Barb is reading this my name is Kait (Kate) just so you know who is calling.

Good Morning Everyone:

Thank you for your well wishes and prayers.  Those of you who I talked to thanks for calling me.  It always brightens up my day to talk with my HW family.

Well today is Thursday and I'm going home yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah .  I've been anxious to go home now for a couple of days.  A friend of mine is going to come and take me home, so that I don't need to wait for Bill to pick me up after work.  I should be home around 2:00 pm.

My pleurisy is much improved.  My clot is still there but my vascular surgeon feels I'm safe to go home.  I need to go to the coumadin class at 8:45.  I'll be on this thinner for the next 6 months.  My back pain is still intense but they did have me try a lidocaine patch on my back last night to help with my pain.  I'm not really sure how well it worked.  I'll have to give it a go for a few more times.

Anyway, that's all here, just wanted to share that I'm going home today.  Looking forward to being back on the forum and catching up on everything with you all.

Barb,

I am sorry to hear all that you are going through. I am thankful that they found the clot.... I threw a clot to my lung several years ago and am thankful to still be here!! Be sure when they give you the Coumadin to take that you stay away from dark green vegetables and the listing of foods with Vitamin K in them. They will thicken your blood!!! I hope your pain eases soon. I will keep you in my prayers

I am so very happy for you!!! yeah yeah yeah yeah And I can just imagine that Bill and Nikita are beside themselves too. It was a real relief to see your message today because we've all been so worried about you. Lynnwood's right. It will be so wonderful to be able to get back into your own bed.

You're always in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks for letting us know.

Barb, I'm so glad you finally get to go home and hopefully get more rest than you were able to get in the hospital. There's nothing like being in your own house in your own bed. Make sure you take it very easy. I really hope you get some relief for the back pain - it must be hard to really rest or get comfortable with all of the pain you are having. You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Lots of love and hugs

Hey Barbara!! I'm SO GLAD you got to the hospital in time!! *pheww* a great testament to all of us to get to the ER when things go strange.

Hi, Barb. I'm fairly new here, but I've been trying to follow your posts and all of the replys. I can tell that you have certainly been through it. I'm glad to hear that you're going home. Please take care of yourself with those new meds and hopefully they will take care of that clot for you. That is so scary! Keep informing us on how you're doing. You're really special here!

Hi Everyone:

Well I've been home 24 hrs now. I have to say that they've been interest to say the least. I wanted to take Nikita school cloths shopping today. I probably shouldn't have gone, as I ended up in a public restroom puking my guts out. We had to give up the shopping and come home.

My back pain is still bothering me and I'm not sure about these lidocaine patches. I'm going to sleep with one on tonight and see if I get any relief from it. We don't have much in way of plans for the weekend. I'd like to finish up the house or at least unpack some more of the house. I need to make sure I don't over do it though.

I wanted to say thanks again for all your prayers, well wishes, and hugs. You all are so great to me. Hope you all have a great and pain free weekend.

Hi, Barb. I'm still trying to get familiar with what everyone has to deal with. I'm so sorry you've had WAY more than your share. I read earlier that you've fought this disease for 19 years. I have only been diagnosed for a little more than a year. I know I also read that you are just returning home from the hospital. It sounds like you're already trying to take on too much though. I'm sure you're relieved to be out and feel really behind on things that need your attention, but it may end up costing you more than it's worth. Just try to take it slow. It's hard to imagine all you already have to deal with. Please take care of yourself. All the stuff will be there tomorrow, and the next day. It sounds like your family will understand.

Hi Barbara,

I am so sorry you ended up in the hospital again but am very grateful they found your blood clot. You have no idea what a special person you are. You are sick and suffering, but yet you always find the time to give someone else a kind work and advice. It is no wonder we all love you. I just wish we lived closer to you because I know I would be more than willing to help you in any way I could. I hope your back pain eases up some for you and that you are feeling a little better today.

Don't feel guilty about the school shopping, the clothes will always be there.

24 hours and your out shopping! Good thing you are being careful not to over do it LOL. I know what it meant to you to get out with your daughter and do MOM stuff though so I can't blame ya there. I'm sorry you got sick though. I enjoyed our talk on the phone the other too. I read that your cancer came from something they gave you for Lupus? I didn't know that. What was it again and why did they give it to you if they knew it could cause cancer? I'm sorry sweetie I know your tired. Just post when you can.

Yep, I know I shouldn't been out shopping. I just feel so guilty all the time when it comes to my girl. I'm so unable to do anything and I don't want her to have only bad feelings about her mom. I'm not like her friends mom's their mom's can do stuff with the and I just can't do it.

School starts on the 27th and I just wanted her to have something. Sandy thanks for your kind words. I love everyone here too. It would be nice if you lived closer, I'd enjoy meeting you and spending time with you. You wouldn't need to help me though, I'd just enjoy you for you. I have a very hard time asking ppl for help with our daily stuff. I however, am thankful for any help offered.

Carol, I took Cytoxan orally and IV for my lungs. All of the drugs like Imuran, Cellcept, cytoxan, methotrexate, humira, enbrel. They all can cause lymphomas, it's usually a small portion of ppl that do develop cancer. I already had a genetic gene and then taking the medication just pushed me over the edge. Sometimes, we've got to take the chance, which is what I did. I just was one of the unlucky ones.

Barbara, I am so happy that your home. I know what you mean being able to do mom stuff. I'm glad you got to shop with your daughter and get her ready for school. Your a really good mom! I hope you back pain is gone. Your in my prayers. Take really good care of yourself.

Barb,

Bless your heart... you are such a wonderful mom. Trying to go clothes shopping seemed to be too much for you which is very understandable given you JUST got out of the hospital. I know Nikita knows you love her so much and I'm sure that she wants you to stay as well as you can and not overdo it. I'm sorry that you have to suffer so much Barb. I'm keeping you in my prayers.

Good Evening:

Well I'm still up and it's now midnight. Guess I'm gonna have troubles sleeping tonight. I thought for sure I'd be able to sleep tonight after the day I had. I had to get up early and take Bill to work and then drive 1 hr away from where we live to meet up with my attorney about my hearing. He spent almost 2 hrs with me going over the questions I'll be asked and gave me an idea about the judge who will hear my case. The attorney said the judge was elderly he's 80 and is very detailed but fair.

Nikita has two girl friends over tonight. I had Nikita cook dinner for the girls. You should have seen the look on their faces. Both girls mothers do all the preparation of meals at their homes. Well needless to say, Bill and Nikita do all the cooking here. Stephanie said wow, I don't have to cook. I felt like telling her well you should it's good for you to know how to cook. However, I kept my mouth shut, it's hard though it made me feel like such a looser cause I can't prepare the meals.

Hope everyone has had a good day and isn't in to much pain tonight. Looking forward to talking with you all soon.
