Hello my dear ones, I am so sorry I haven't been here in so long. I have been battling some pretty horrible stuff.

You know that I have relapsing clostridium difficile, and I am still waging war against that. It has been 5 full months now, and I am so ready to be rid of it.

I am also having problems I believe with lupus, but am unable to distinguish between something else being wrong.

How do you know a flare is a flare? I am running low grade temps again (have been for a week), have constant INTENSE muscle and joint pain (like the flu times 10) I am exhausted, not sleeping well, and have lots of stomach aches. But this started on the maximum dose of vancomycin for the c. diff. When I take the max dose I do not have symptoms like this. If I had not been on the max dose I would have passed it off as c. diff.

Can my rheumy determine if this is a flare?

Do any of you experience abdominal pain with a flare? Stomach aches? I am not vomiting, nor do I have "d".

Am wondering if a flare could make things already sick...hurt more.

I had a colonoscopy and everything looked fine. Biopsies came back completely normal.

Please know that I think about you all so often and you are in my heart and prayers.

Darlene, you must have read my mind this morning. I was planning to e-mail you to see how you were doing since I hadn't seen you here for a while and I know how sick you had been. I can't tell you how sorry I am that you are still so sick and that you are still battling the c-diff. I really think you need to call your rheumy and that you should be seen. It really sounds like you are flaring, but your rheumy would be the one who could help sort that out. Between your symptoms and running some labs your rheumy could tell you if you're in a flare. It wouldn't surprise me at all if you were flaring. The c-diff is so hard on your body that it could have set off a flare. For me, even a simple cold can throw my lupus into a flare. Hopefully your rheumy could figure out something to keep you more comfortable and maybe something to help you sleep better. I wish there was something more that someone could do for you - you sound so miserable. I just wish there was something that would give you some relief. You have been on my mind lately. Just know that you have lots of people here who care about you and want to hear from you whether you are feeling rotten or feeling better. I'm praying you get some relief soon. Love and hugs

I agree with seeing your rheumy. It does sound like you are flaring but you are right, how do you know for sure? I think the biggest lab test that rheumys use to see your if your lupus is active is the dsDNA test. I know that my rheumy runs this test each time I'm there "just to see what's going on". I hope that its not a flare for you but if it is, maybe you can get out of it quick. I hate to hear that you are not feeling well, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

Hi Darlene, I just wanted to check on you and see if you are feeling any better? Did you manage to get an appt: with your rheumy? How is the c-diff doing? At the risk of sounding like an idiot (again) lol. I have never ven heard of c-diff until I came here. Is it somthing people with AI get often? I have read some about it but I'm still notclear. Does it happen from the side efffect of medication? I hope you are feeling a bit better.

Darlene, I've been wondering about you too. I'm hoping you are getting some kind of relief, but I know how hard the c-diff can be to treat. Carol, you are so good about following up and checking on people. It is very sweet of you to do that.
