The Dr. called m e today and told me to get to the pharmacy for meds. My labs are 100% conclusive for Lupus. No doubts. Thank you all for being with me during me wait. The Dr. was a royal jerk to me but he came through with all my tests. I am sad. I have Lupus and IBD and 2 sick kids. I am tired and I wish all this would just go away.

(((Chaya)))... I know its a bittersweet moment for you to hear that you are indeed sick, not wanting to be but now having confirmation. I hope you can get a treatment plan going right away so you can get yourself in remission. I understand how hard it is to cope with so many illnesses at once. Having to care for sick children too is a lot to bear. Please know that we are here for you and you know that you can always come here to get it off your chest and hopefully let off a little steam to make you feel better.

Congratulations.. I think? I always believe that with a diagnosis you can get better/proper treatment. No fun being diagnosed with Lupus, but it is a relief to know what you are dealing with and to have hope that your condition may not deteriorate with treatment. Glad you now have some closure on this chapter of life. Take care & HUGS - Kristin

Hugs and blessings to you Chaya. You have expressed feelings that many of us share with you. We really do "need" the affirmation of a conclusive diagnosis because it helps explain our problems and it gives us some credibility with doctors and family. . . . but knowing that we will need to adjust our lives forever to accommodate it is a lot to take in. It takes some time to go thru the stages of mourning for our old self and our old health, but once you work thru that, you will find a new "normal" and a new balance. Just make sure you learn how to pace your limited energy and how to really make good decisions on how to spend it.

I'm sure the others will have some encouragement to share with you too.

Chaya, what the others said about a diagnosis is so true. It's really a bittersweet moment. None of us wants to be sick, but it's worse being sick without a diagnosis than being sick with a diagnosis. At least you and the doc know what you are dealing with now. Hopefully the doc will be more helpful and compassionate now that you have a diagnosis. What meds did he start you on? Hopefully he'll have a follow-up with you soon to see how you are doing on your meds. I'm sorry to hear about your kids being sick. It's hard enough to be sick yourself and take care of healthy kids. My son, who is 9 has juvenile arthritis and it can be a real challenge at times. We're here for you through all of this. There are all kinds of both emotional and physical ups and downs with this disease and it's nice to know you can come here where people really understand and can relate to what you are going through. Make sure you take time to take care of yourself. Lots of ((((hugs))))

Chaya..... I know hearing the diagnosis can be bittersweet. It is a relief to have someone validate the fact that you truly are sick but then comes the dealing with it.... I know what that is like. It took me about 3 years to be accurately diagnosed. I was bounced from Dr to Dr and then finally someone was willing to give me the diagnosis. Now I have been dealing with the ups and downs of the disease. I have had some issues with the medications. This site is truly a wonderful place to find support and information. I was relieved to know that I am not crazy and there are other people out there that experience alot of the same things that I do.... Hope you are doing well!

at least you know ... now you can plan a course of action and attack. at least you know you're not a hypocondriac and you're not crazy.

Hi, Chaya. I second what everyone else has said about finally being diagnosed. It was SO nice for me actually having all my crazy symptoms come under one title. I had several misdiagnosis' that ended up costing me a good-sized chunk of completely unnecessary money that could have gone far toward the valid treatment of my disease! Just don't make the mistake that I made, by thinking that because they have diagnosed you, they'll know how to fix you. Unfortunately, that was disappointment #2 for me! As you will read on many posts here, there are all kinds of things that can come and go at any given time with this stupid disease. Just be glad you have found this place! You can come here and vent, discuss problems you're having and possibly even find the help that you need with something you're dealing with. You will certainly find people in the same boat who more than understand what you're dealing with. I'm sorry that you have sick children on top of your diagnosis. Just try to take it one day at a time. That's all we can really do.
