Is this a Lupus rash?

I have always had the little red dots on my nose and cheeks but the past couple of days I have noticed a really weird rash on my cheek. It's raised and round and about the size of a quarter. Like a cluster. It had several little almost tiny water looking blisters in that area. Does it sound formiliar to anyone? I can feel like with my fingers but it doesn't itch or hurt.

Carol, if you can, it might help to get some pictures of it to show your rheumy when you see him - I know it's a little hard to take pictures of your own face. I don't know for sure, since I haven't had a rash like that, but I wonder if it's possibly discoid lupus. Maybe your pcp would know what the rash is if it doesn't go away soon. I wish I could help more. Hopefully it will clear up soon. Take care. ((((Hugs))))

Thanks Hippi, I'll see if I can get someone to take a picture of it. I sure hope it goes away before I leave. I don't want to have to even think about being sick while I'm on vacation.

Just another thought Carol - If the rash doesn't go away or gets worse, a dermatologist would probably be able to help determine what the rash is and a biopsy would tell whether it's discoid lupus. But, I don't know if there is a dermatologist anywhere around you or not. Also, if you're leaving for vacation soon, it might be hard to get an appointment. If I remember right, you are leaving in a few days. Hopefully you woke up this morning and the rash is getting better. Love and (((hugs)))

Hi, Carol. What you have sounds just like the places that I get occasionally. I'm just trying to visualize based on your description. I've shown them to my rheumy and his explanation was that it's a form of acne caused by the prednisone. (It is certainly not like any acne I dealt with in high school.) Anyway, his recommendation was to try something topical like peroxide on them. I did and it did nothing. Just this past week, I had another place come up near my lower jaw. I picked at it a few days and I could tell it was the same old thing, and expected to have it around for at least a couple of weeks. Well, while shopping on Tuesday, I was looking over some facial cleaners, treatments, etc. I found a bar of Aveeno called "Clear Complexion, Cleansing Bar". I've only used this twice, and my place is already clearing up. It looked better the very next morning, but after another use now it's nearly gone. This bar makes your face feel soft and smooth too. It costs almost $3 for one bar, so I will ONLY be using it to wash my face with. I've always had a dry skin problem on my face too, but so far it is not a drying soap. As a matter of fact, it says it is soap-free, hypoallergenic, and noncomedogenic (does not block your pores). Just a suggestion. It sure worked fast for me! Hope you're feeling better too...vacation in getting closer! Let me know.

Hi Hippi and Sharen, I don't leave until tuesday but that isn't that far away. Actually I showed it to my brother last night and he showed me a spot on his face in the same area. He said his was almost gone but it apeared right after he spent the day at the water park in the sun for hours. It was scabbed over but almost healed from his cheek to his ear even inside his ear. I didn't say anything to him but boy was I thinking it!
Sharen I'm going into town tomorrow I'll try the aveeno thanks! It's still there but it hasn't changed ether better or worse so I am still hopeful it resolves. I wouldn't be surprised if it was from steroids. I wish I'd never heard of them. The side effects are so bad I want off of them so badly.

Hi, Carol. If you do get that bar, I sure hope it works for you as well as it did for me! There is no sign of that place on my face at all now. That is after using the Aveeno bar only 4 nights in a row! I know I would have had to deal with that for at least 3 weeks, and even then it would have probably left a small darkened area where it was. Anyway, your vacation is approaching! Are you feeling better now otherwise? Sure hope so! I know how you feel, I really would like to get completely off of the prednisone too. My new rheumy has already informed me with my lung being involved though, that might not be possible. So, I guess it's a good idea to stock up on all the things needed to treat the crazy side effects you get from it! Let me know how you do!

Hey Sharen, I got the aveeno yesterday. I got the one with the oatmeal in it. I am pretty happy with the results so far. I have used it twice now. The smaller rash bumps have disappears but I still have a few others that are like the size of a misquito bite. But that round mork it history! So I'm gonna use it again at bedtime and see what happens. I know one thing that bar of soap is going on my trip with me.
Thanks for the heads up. You know I really had my doubts but I'm a believer now!

Hi, Carol. I'm glad you're liking the Aveeno. Did the oatmeal bar also have the blemish treatment in it to prevent breakouts? I can't remember as I read SO many. I hope it does the job for you! Does your face feel soft and smooth like I explained? My face has never felt like it does since using this stuff! Keep using it and maybe it will all disappear like mine did. I was nervous to share the suggestion fearing it wouldn't work for you like it did me. I'm glad I told you about it now. Let me know. Your vacation is getting closer! Take care,
