Dentist questions

Okay, I went to the dentist yesterday...haven't been in a few years.

So, today I haven't been feeling well.

how do you all prepare for the dentist?, I never thought that I would have

any troubles and I have to have some more work done.

You should probably talk to your rheumy about what you should do in your specific case to support your immune system appropriately. For me, I've been told a little extra pred 2 days before and 3-5 days after, but as you know, we all vary in how our systems react, in what our meds are, etc. Fun, fun, fun....

I have never thought about how having my teeth clean can be. Now, I just have to remeber for my next appt.

Hi Frank:

I know when I go to see the dentist not only do I have to take a extra pred for a couple of days, but I've got to take antibiotics prior to things like cleanings and such. The bacteria in your mouth can enter your blood system very easily. Since I had Rheumatic Fever as a teenager, I have to be pre treated with 1000mg of antibiotic prior and 1000mg afterwards.

I hope you don't have anymore side effects other than the ones you've already had. I'd discuss with your rheumy then next time you see them, about how much extra pred you should take.

my doc prescribed me an antibiotic for everytime i have any work done, she said even getting my teeth cleaned i would still need to talk the antibiotic. but no one has said anything about the prednisone except when i had my wisdom tooth removed.

I guess I need to call my rheumy....I am not on prednisone at this time. I don't see him agian for 4 months.

I saw him two days before the dentist
