Cellcept & Trying to Conceive

I don’t have Lupus, I have AIH (auto immune hep) but I was hoping that you fine people could help me out since you may have more experience with this drug.   Current issue: I am scared to death to take the Cellcept (500 mg or 750 mg twice a day). I am scared of what it is doing to my body. My doc. Says it’s a fairly new drug, so it scares me that I'm doing some other kind of damage. I want to get pregnant and you are not supposed to on the Cellcept. You have to stop it 6 wks before u even think about getting preg. ·         Has anyone had a hard time trying to conceive right after stopping Cellcept? ·         Can it make you sterile? ·         Any problems with your baby after you waited the 6 wks before conceiving?        Any other info you can provide?

I am also on cellcept and like Pat have grown children. I do know that cellcept has very strong warnings about not getting pregnant while on the drug, not nursing while on the drug, etc.

If I were you, I would let my doctor who was taking care of me for my AIH that I wanted to get pregnant so he/she could prescribe a different.
Next, I would make an appointment to see my obstetrician to let him/her know about my cellcept use to get their input.

I would rather be safe on this end of the pregnancy than to be worried throughout the 9 months of the pregnancy. Hope this helps. All the best to you.
